Losing floods the brain with neurotoxic endorphins and enkephalins.

Endorphins, enkephalins, and other opioid agonists related to serotonin can cause brain damage and “stiff neck” syndrome – rigidity of the neck and back muscles.

Humans “lose” from time to time, so Great Nature supplied opioid agonists as a secondary reward – a consolation prize like the gold watch awarded to retired employees by corporate executives.

Dopamine and the proper mixture of catecholamines – and the IMMUNE GYROSCOPE vitamin D – are consciousness-elevating chemicals.

Dependence on an endorphin “high” is consciousness-depressing and leads to an ADDICTION TO LOSING – sometimes called “playing the limbo-stick game” of HOW LOW CAN YOU GO.

Endorphins are involved in what Swami Nitty-Gritty (Adano Ley) called “stone Buddha meditation” and “siddha-on-your ass meditation.”

Endorphin-state meditators are knownby Sufisas MASTS,spiritually intoxicated individualsin a transitional “sticking point” of cosmic consciousness.

Meher Baba wrote extensively about masts (pronounced “musts”), and many fakirs are notable examples.

Consciousness evolved from the Yang sympathetic nervous system, with the Yin parasympathetic nervous system as a built-in retreat – and occasional TREAT – from “too much reality.”

James H. Austin wrote (Zen and the Brain: Toward an Understanding of Meditation and Consciousness, 1998) …

“…the evidence lines up in one direction: during defeat, the brain releases enough of its endogenous opioids to make an animal physically dependent. In one sense, the loser might seem to have come out ahead.”

In the words of Swami Nitty-Gritty …

All Life is ACTION,

All Action is LOVE,

All Love is SERVICE,

All Service is FREEDOM,

All Freedom is NOW,

All Now is BEING,

All Being is LIFE,

All Life is ACTION,

Etc.

that would form a nice 7-pointed star:
    action-love-service-freedom-now-being-life

One draws a 7-pointed star by taking a 90degree corner, make it just a bit less than 90, then following with the next corner that’s just a bit less than 90; do this 7 times.
It’s beautiful, it never ends, and i’ve found that many great systems of life come out in such interlocking 7s.
The one i’m working on now is:

The Cycle of 7 (the Sacred Law of Heptaparaparshinokh) fits into the Cycle of 9 (the Enneagram, or Triadic Study of Octaves).

Gurdjieff listed 2 requirements for Immortality …

      (1) “conscious labor and intentional suffering” and

      (2) “being-Partkdolg-duty” (meditation).

Swami Nitty-Gritty ordered a scientist acquaintance of mine to write in capital letters and post the following words on his refrigerator …

TO BE IN THIS WORLD IS INVOLVEMENT

TO BE WITH YOURSELF AS YOU ARE IS ISOLATION

      ANYTHING ELSE IS FRUSTRATION

WORK: FOR OTHERS AND FOR YOURSELF

Keep me posted on your work. :)

The Periodic Table of the Elements is Cosmic Numerology … I recommend reading Number and Time, 1974, by the Swiss Jungian psychologist Marie-Louise von Franz.
