Placebo Power to the People!

According to Adano Ley (Swami Nitty-Gritty) …

“You’re entitled to placebo yourself until Midnight Eternity.”

Irving Kirsch (“Antidepressants and the placebo effect,” Placebo Talks: Modern Perspectives on Placebos in Society, 2016) wrote …

“The consistency was remarkable. Regardless of the type of medication studied, 75% of the response to the active drugs was duplicated by placebo, leaving a true drug effect of only 25% in each case. What makes this particularly surprising is the response to what we have labeled ‘other medication.’ These are active drugs that are not regarded as antidepressants (e.g., lithium, barbiturates, and thyroid medication given to depressed patients who were not suffering from depression). They too produced substantial improvement in depression — as great as that produced by tricyclics, SSRIs, and other antidepressants. Joanna Moncrieff has described similar data concerning an even wider range of medications that all surpass placebo in the treatment of depression (Moncrieff 2008), and I have since learned that the same antidepressant effect can be produced by drugs that are supposed to decrease, rather than increase, serotonin levels (Kirsch 2009, 2010). What do you call a substance, the effects of which are independent of its physical properties? I call it a placebo.”

According to “Irving Kirsch,” Wikipedia (last edited Dec. 7, 2019) …

“Kirsch’s analysis of the effectiveness of antidepressants was an outgrowth of his interest in the placebo effect. His first meta-analysis was aimed at assessing the size of the placebo effect in the treatment of depression. The results not only showed a sizeable placebo effect, but also indicated that the drug effect was surprisingly small. This led Kirsch to shift his interest to evaluating the antidepressant drug effect.”

According to “Joanna Moncrieff,” Wikipedia (last edited Sept. 19, 2019) …

“Moncrieff’s work challenges the idea that drugs or medications have specific effects on underlying diseases or abnormalities. She challenges the theory that mental disorders are caused by chemical imbalances, something that we currently have no evidence for, even less evidence pertains to chemicals being the best form of treatment for mental issues. She shows that there is little evidence for serotonin abnormalities in depression, or dopamine abnormalities in psychosis or schizophrenia.”

Karl A. Menninger (Man Against Himself, 1938, 1966) wrote …

“He discovers that patients often don’t want to get well as much as they say they do. He discovers that their hovering and solicitous relatives often don’t want them to get well, either. He discovers that his efforts are combated not alone by Nature, bacteria, and toxins, but by some imp of the perverse in the patient himself. An old professor of mine once remarked that the physician must devote most of his efforts toward keeping the relatives from killing the patient, and then trust God — occasionally the surgeon — for the rest; but the skillful physician really does more. He not only holds off the relatives but he tries to keep the patient from doing those things which favor the disease rather than the recovery.”

A man confined to a wheelchair consulted Adano Ley (Swami Nitty-Gritty).

He took his first steps in eight years.

An “accident” kept him from returning for a second treatment.

According to Adano, the man wanted to kill his grandmother, and arranged the original “accident” and the latest one to keep from doing it.

“We’re going to work on him from a distance,” Adano announced to a classroom full of Texas Institute of Reflex Sciences students.

“I thought we shouldn’t do long-distance work on a person without their permission,” I asked Adano.

“He gave his permission when he came for help,” he replied.

A few days after my fourth wife dumped me, I threw some of the odds and ends she didn’t take with her in a bag to take to the trash.

I jumped on my bicycle and headed for the dumpster, holding on to the handlebars with one hand.

I “wiped out,” and flew over the handlebars.

I stood up in the middle of the street, my “inner scientist” fascinated with what I observed.

My LEFT side didn’t have a scratch.

My RIGHT side was “road rash” and bruises from head to ankles,

Then I picked up the debris, and went home to pick the gravel out of my leg and take a shower.

Sarita’s RIGHT foot twitched when she mentioned a woman’s name.

Her right foot twitched every time she mentioned it.

“You’ve got a trauma with her,” I said.

“Not anymore. Roger cleared her out of my cellular memory,” she protested.

“If I can still find her in your foot, she’s NOT out of your cellular memory,” I replied.

Are you really “cleared” of a specific trauma and all its sub-traumas?

Mind Hacking For the Millions (M2H) can tell for sure.
