Here are more Swami Nitty-Gritty quotes from my 1987 diary.

According to Adano Ley (Swami Nitty-Gritty) …

“Your cross is your horoscope.”

“If I eat, you can’t be satisfied.”

“What you do with what you get determines if you understand what you are.”

“You make yourself sick; no one makes yourself sick. You make yourself sleepy.”

“You have cosmic awareness, not cosmic intellect. You see through everything holographically.”

“The ability to see through the wall is your Lost Paradise.”

“Salt turns down the cosmic vision. It doesn’t turn it off.”

“Everything is hologrammic. Once convex vision is turned up, you can’t sleep.”

“It took me twelve years to develop a buzzing in my head.”

“Your mouth can only make three movements. A-U-M uses all three movements.”

“If you take your motor and let it spin, you’re going to hear a hum.”

“Every organ has its own sound.”

“I don’t dream. Dreams are misfiled geometry.”

“Jesus had many teachers.”

“Meditation is an acronym for Mental Energy Directing Individual Thought Activity Towards Internal Observation and Oneness with Noumena.”

“Walk with the wind out of your nose.”

“Meditation lived is happening. There’s no happiness here.”

“Breath don’t reincarnate. Breath IS.”

“A past-life memory? If you don’t breathe, how can you claim it?”

“‘What’ is the unified field. ‘Who’ is the relative condition.”

“We belong to the ‘Here’ family. The big owner is called ‘Fat Here,’ and his wife is ‘Mo Here.’ And we are the children, ‘Be Here.'”

“The reverence I’m talking about here is touch. Touch, t-ouch, carries tremendous pain. That’s the connectiveness.”

“Look around, all the things that you’re paying for is an empty space. You can’t own it.”

“There is nothing to account for other than the breath.”

“A question is the quest of the ion. That’s what you’re really searching for to satisfy your own structure.”

“Sleep is unconscious sensory motor relaxation.”

“Waking is unconscious sensory motor compression, or constriction.”

“Meditation is conscious sensory motor relaxation.”

“Death is unconscious sensory motor organic relaxation.”

“Resurrection is conscious sensory motor organic relaxation.”

“We’re going to buy a cave located between Knoxville and Oak Ridge. Officials wanted to bury nuclear waste there, but the owner refused their offer.”

“There are three advantages to a cave remaining at a temperature of 56 degrees Fahrenheit. It helps someone quit smoking by cleaning the lungs. It stops the aging process of the wrinkling of the skin, and the cave’s air and moisture don’t build up acids in your body.”

According to “Sweet potato in Papua New Guinea: a multitude of varieties created by smallholders,” CIRAD Agricultural Research for Development, Jun. 2014 …

“More than 1000 sweet potato varieties are grown by smallholders in Papua New Guinea. This is a pardoxical situation for a plant that is propagated vegetatively and was imported from Latin America. Where did this remarkable diversity come from and how do producers make use of it? Researchers from CIRAD and CEFE recently showed that most of the varieties were bred locally from plants resulting from sexual recombination that appeared spontaneously in plots. This is a dynamic process that enables producers to adapt to change, and constitutes an asset for the future.”

    Hi Atom,
what’s your view on cinnamon ?

Cinnamon is OK in limited quantities as long as it’s Cinnamomum zeylanicum, not Cinnamomum cassia, which contains enough coumarin to damage the liver and kidneys.

I personally think cinnamon’s health-promoting qualities are overrated compared to its therapeutic index.

Often, “The more specific the effect, the more toxic the herb or drug,” although many pharmacists and herbalists will argue the opposite.

The therapeutic index of a food is usually lower (often much lower) than that of an herb.

Cinnamaldehyde is used as an insecticide, fungicide, and corrosion inhibitor, besides being used as a flavor, fragrance, and drug,

Cinnamaldehyde allegedly gives cinnamon its flavor and odor.

But does that apply to all six cinnamon chemotypes? …

        1) cinnamaldehyde type

        2) cinnamaldehyde/cinnamyl acetate type

        3) cinnamyl acetate type

        4) linalool type

        5) camphor type

        6) mixed type

Here’s hoping the 19-year-old amateur herbalist behind the counter of your local health food store knows what chemotype he’s selling you.
