“The study of the evolution of disease patterns provides evidence that during the last century doctors have affected epidemics no more profoundly than did priests during earlier times. Epidemics came and went, imprecated by both but touched by neither. They are not modified any more decisively by the rituals performed in medical clinics than by those customary at religious shrines.”

Most folks know “iatrogenesis” refers to adverse effects or complications caused by or resulting from medical treatment.

Ivan Illich referred to it as CLINICAL IATROGENESIS, and described two other levels of iatrogenesis, even more pernicious than the first …

SOCIAL IATROGENESIS – “…medical practice sponsors sickness by reinforcing a morbid society that encourages people to become consumers of curative, preventive, industrial, and environmental medicine. […] Second-level iatrogenesis finds its expression in various symptoms of social overmedicalization that amounts to what I call the expropriation of health.”

CULTURAL IATROGENESIS – “…the so-called health professionals have an even deeper culturally health-denying effect insofar as they destroy the potential of people to deal with their human weakness, vulnerability, and uniqueness in a personal and autonomous way. The patient in the grip of contemporary medicine is but one instance of mankind in the grip of its pernicious techniques. This cultural iatrogenesis […] is the ultimate backlash of hygienic progress and consists in the paralysis of healthy responses to suffering, impairment, and death. It occurs when people accept health management based on the engineering model, when they conspire in an attempt to produce, as if it were a commodity, something called ‘better health.’ This invariably results in the managed maintenance of life on high levels of sublethal illness. This ultimate evil of medical ‘progress’ must be clearly distinguished from both clinical and social iatrogenesis.”

Cultural iatrogenesis transforms us all into co-conspirators stuck in the “golden spiderweb” of the Medical Industrial Complex.

    Can we trust the U.S. government to regulate our wellness?

    The U.S. Chamber of Commerce was a major instigator and promoter of the radioactive hot springs craze of the first decades of the 1900s.

    Most (yes, most) natural hot springs are radioactive, and they were routinely promoted as such by spas all across the country.

    Farmers were encouraged to use radium-enhanced fertilizer, and many did just that.

    Sales were brisk for “health” products like the Sanable Radio-Active Soil Stimulant and the Sanable Radio-Active Bath Powder and Healing Balm.

    Charles Gilbert-Davis, M.D., proclaimed …

    “Worship God and drink four goblets of Waunita radium water every day, and you will live many beautiful years and go to heaven when you die.”

    Entrepreneurs realized they could sell their radium waters to the middle class by bottling them and shipping them to a much larger market.

    The Federal Trade Commission intervened. Was it because of the dangers of radiation?

    No. The FTC intervened because the radon gas escaped and little radioactivity as left for the consumer’s “health.”

    We used to hike 32 miles from Ojai to Sespe Hot Springs and back. Are you saying that Sespe Hot Springs is radioactive? Oh, to be young and foolish…

      32 miles? Wow, I’ve been corresponding with Superwoman!

      Most hot springs have at least minor radioactivity – mostly radon-222 or radon-226 in California.

      Isn’t Sespe Hot Springs on faulted granite?

      I grew up in a high granite/radon section of northern New Jersey – and therefore was chronically exposed – and I’m still alive and kicking.

      Even granite countertops give off radon gas.

    Hi Bud! My girlfriend got us Chocolate Covered Coffee Beans…Molto Delizioso!! I made the “mistake” of reading the label of ingredients. What can we eat along with the beans to offset the “with alkalai”? There must be something up your Chemistry Sleve…some Exception To The Rule…a Mudra maybe (hehe). Oh, BTW, yesterday I found myself suggestioning to a like-minded friend-as I was paying him some money-to accept it with his Left Hand and, when he spends it, to use his Right Hand…remember that??       There’s no way to put the “antioxidants” (a misnomer) back in Dutched (alkalized) cocoa, but, fortunately, Dutched cocoa is rarely alkalized completely, so you still get many of the benefits … restored back to and beyond the original potency by “eating on time.” :)

      Yes, I do remember Adano’s prosperity energetics.

      Wellness works clockwise, and prosperity works counterclockwise.

      In electronics, it’s called Fleming’s Right-Hand Rule, discovered by John Ambrose Fleming (1848-1945).

    I wondered whether you have heard of the bioenergy products such as the earthing sheets you can buy to sleep on that mimicks the effects of walking barefoot. Do you know any one how has used them – are they successful in reducing stress in the body

      Earthing sheets put us in the Astral Plane.

      Flotation sleep (airbeds, waterbeds) puts us in the Lower Mental Plane – one step closer to our True Home among the stars.

      Flotation sleep prepares us for the influx of calcium into the pineal gland – mistaken by scientists as its “calcification.”

      Sleeping in a lounge chair (the layperson’s version of an astronaut’s chair) puts us in the Causal Plane.

          (Latex is a plant’s defense against herbivores.)

          PS: Using a heating pad or sleeping on magnets are not OK.

    According to an article published in Chemical & Engineering News (published by chemists for chemists and rarely viewed by the public), the frequency of osteosarcoma (bone cancer) is directly proportionate to the exposure to fluoride.

    In a classic case of Medical Amnesia, it’s been known since before World War II that teeth and gums can develop perfectly without a single atom of fluorine..

    Colorado Brown Tooth, the fluoride-overloading disease, causes teeth to fall out.

    Tea-drinking – because of the high amount of fluoride and aluminum in the tea plant – has actually been blamed for the downfall of the British Empire, just as lead was blamed for the downfall of the Roman Empire.

    Hitler added fluoride to water in concentration camps to pacify people. What happens to people who take anti depressants and drink fluoridated water, how can they function? Makes one wonder why doctors are pushing anti depressants and the powers that be are pushing fluoridation.

      I’m read that too about Hitler using fluoride to pacify concentration camp captives.

      I haven’t been able to authenticate it (yet), but it doesn’t surprise me.

      Opiates have a direct effect on grief, an emotion intimately associated with separation anxiety.

      Antidepressants target a totally different group of neurons.

    ..and if one has been unknowingly ingesting fluorosilic acid since birth and that is many years, can one get this out of the body and with it that lethargy it creates?? any tips, tricks, besides filtering water at shower and faucet, nearly impossible to escape in a fluoridated country.
    i should be more angry at the government here but dammit i don’t feel it:)

      For starters, to counteract the fluosilicic acid in your reservoir, you can use a thief to catch a thief, and eat …

      almonds for breakfast,

      any citrus fruit at Spleen/Pancreas Time (9:00-11:00 a.m.),

      green onions for lunch, &/or

      garlic &/or salt water fish for supper.

      The foods listed above contain organic fluorine.

      Shivering at Kidney Time (5:00-7:00 p.m.) will move fluorine out of the body.

      Yogis call shivering Kundalini. Bodybuilders call it “dynamic tension.”

      Orgasm depletes fluorine. (Ain’t Nature great?)

      Note: Skip citrus fruit if they’re grown in proximity of industrial fluoride or fluosilicic acid.

    Manual techniques for various hernias (with instructional photographs) are in three editions of an osteopathic textbook (approx. 1918?, 1921?, 1924?) at the Gibson D. Lewis Science Library in Fort Worth.

    Osteopathic sources all over the Internet DENY any such techniques ever existed. :(

      In Pennsylvania, back in 1974, I took a “Massage” class with Jerome Cook-a friend of Adano and Margaret. Jerome was well known and loved in the Pennsylvania Dutch Community. He taught them techniques so that they could care for themselves and each other. I was “in my youth” as a “Masseur” at that time. Now to the point: The FIRST TECHNIQUE that I learned from Jerome was how to reduce a hiatal hernia. I still employ that gem to this day…along with our ol’ friend Apple Cider Vinegar and Honey Water!

    Shingles – Take natural B vitamins (brewer’s yeast, rice bran syrup, etc.) and stay under RED LIGHT ONLY (as much as humanly possible) for the duration of the attack.

    Iron – Drink tomato juice and molasses at Small Intestine Time (1:00-3:00 p.m.).

    Oriental soy is symbiotic with 16 or 17 nitrogen-fixing bacteria.

    In 1888, U.S. scientists figured out how to reduce that to only one.

    Many other foods have more estrogenic potential than soy, e.g., grapefruit.

    If you want strong bones and a weak weenie, eat grapefruit. if you want weak bones and a strong weenie, don’t eat grapefruit.

    The truth is in the middle on the Razor’s Edge. ;)

        Undergarments are OK, especially upper garments like bras.

        Panties in the color of the day will suffice.

        Incidentally, it’s better to wear gold jewelry above the heart (Zone One), silver at or below heart level (Zone Two), and bronze or lead below the belt (Zone Three.)

        There’s an old folk saying: “An orange is gold in the morning, silver at midday, and lead in the evening.”

        Hey, someone should start a company called Rainbow Bras, to help women “keep abreast of the week.” ;)

    Men and women should avoid xenostrogens (obesogens and organotins).

    Here’s a few foods to enhance the sex drive.

    Morning Zone One foods …

    Almonds, olive, olive oil, cocoa, dark chocolate, Cobalamin Tonic, banana, tamarind, umeboshi plum, etc.

    Skipping breakfast (or eating it later than 9:00 a.m.) is a sex-killer.

    Midday Zone Two foods …

    Bee pollen, sunflower seed, spinach, celery, strawberries soaked in bourbon (consume a minimum of one teaspoon to one shot glass of the bourbon), vanilla, clarified butter.

    Evening Zone Three foods …

    Sardines, herring, tuna, caviar, egg, cod liver oil, mushroom, beet root, celery root, pineapple, aloe, maca root, suma root, sarsaparilla root, damiana root, catuaba root bark, turmeric root, American ginseng, Chinese ginseng, Korean ginseng, Siberian ginseng (eleuthero), Brazilian ginseng (suma root), birds’ nest soup (regurgitated sea vegetables), clarified butter, 100% agave tequila (from one teaspoon to no more than shot glass).

    Especially for men, minimize eating foods that stimulate aromatase (estrogen synthesase), e.g., grapefruit.
