What You Are Is Breathing

Descartes should have said …

“I think I am, therefore I think I am, I think.”

Yes, No, Maybe?

Ron & Claire Levitan (Growing a Soul on the Planet Earth: The Fourth Way & Esoteric Christianity, 2018) wrote …

“We see life ‘topsy-turvy,’ as Gurdjieff said. Our fundamental problem is that we all believe and think of ourselves as individuals. This idea is reinforced in a variety of ways. For example, we are called by a certain name, are held responsible for our actions and inactions, are enmeshed in habits, say ‘I’ to everything, and have some bodily sense, all brought together with our unquestioned belief in ourselves as being an indivisible ‘I’ existing throughout past, present and future space and time. We fail to see that we ordinarily function like a machine and that our childhood conditioning creates a self-image, causing us to react and identify with external or internal stimuli just as a machine acts in accordance with its programming.”

According to the same source …

“The past is living the present. We have no indivisible ‘I,’ and thus no real will. Instead, ‘everything happens.’ We are being lived, not living. All this is to be verified, not believed.”

James Stanley Grimes (Etherology: And the Phreno-philosophy of Mesmerism and Magic Eloquence, 1850) wrote …

“‘How often,’ says he [Dr. Franz Joseph Gall, 1758-1828], ‘in intoxication, hysterical and hypochondriacal attacks, convulsions, fever, and insanity, under violent emotions, after long fasting, through the effect of such poisons as opium, hemlock, or belladonna, are we not, in some measure, transferred into perfectly different beings, — for instance, into poets, actors, etc., — just as, in dreaming, the thoughts frequently have more delicacy, and the sensations are more acute, and we can hear and answer; just as, in ordinary somnambulism, we can rise, walk, see, touch with the hands, etc.; so we allow that similar phenomena may take place in artificial somnambulism, and even in a higher degree. We acknowledge a fluid which has an especial affinity with the nervous system, which can emanate from an individual, pass into another, and accumulate, in virtue of particular affinities, more in certain parts than in others. We admit the existence of a fluid, the subtraction of which lessens, and the accumulation augments, the power of the nerves; which places one part of the nervous system in repose, and heightens the activity of another; which, therefore, may produce an artificial somnambulism.'”

According to Adano Ley (Swami Nitty-Gritty) …

“Literally what you are is breathing.”

Adano Ley was holding Satsang in Flagstaff, Arizona.

I was in a rear side seat, in the darker shadows just outside the living room where Adano was sitting.

“Just how does Adano manage to stay awake all the time?” I silently brooded, fighting fatigue and sleepiness. “I’ve got to learn how to do it!”

A wave of anger engulfed me, dissipating my drowsiness, which engendered a new thought. “Maybe it has something to do with adrenaline?”

Adano immediately turned to face me, as if his thoughts had been interrupted by mine.

He smiled and commented, “Ah, my brother back there is trying to figure out how I stay awake all the time. Don’t worry, you’ll figure it out.”

I still can’t DO it, but at least I’m “figuring it out.”

“Is it better to be in time or on time?” I asked Adano Ley.

“In time is better,” he replied. “If you’re on time for an appointment, the other fellow may be late. If you’re in time, you both arrive at the same time.”

Re: What’s your take on Dr Joel Wallach’s 8 federal lawsuits against the FDA including, “winning the right to say that Omega 3 Fatty Acids reduce Cardiovascular Heart Disease”?
    Medical Nemesis LOVES heart disease.
The FDA has been pro-omega 3 almost from the get-go (1938-1958).
But its officials play hard to get so dozens of lawyers can join in the feeding frenzy.
Meanwhile, the FDA makes even bigger bucks by endorsing omega 3 fish oil products manufactured by Big Pharma (Amarin and GlaxoSmithKline).
