-Dr. McDougalltreats patients and avoid drugs as first line treatment.

-NIH Researcher Kevin Hall was hired by Gary Taubes to study low carb vs high carb diets. His research showed greater weight losing efficiency of a high carb vs a low carb diet.

-Low carb diets are dangerous, cause heart disease, cancer, bad breath.

-Cholesterol is not the culprit; he doesn’t prescribe statins. Association between high cholesterol and a sick body. Meats and oils damage the arteries.

-Look at low-carb diet proponents – how healthy are they?

-All oils are toxic. No such thing as oils in nature, they must be processed.

-Framingham Study shows people with higher cholesterol have more heart disease; those eating lower cholesterol have lower heart disease.

-People love to hear good news about bad habits. Influence of advertisers.

-People’s blood sugars drop after eating starches. Sugar makes insulin work more efficiently. Fat paralyzes insulin. High fat diet creates more diabetes. No research supporting low carb.

-Why did the incidence of type 2 diabetes increase in the last 35 years in China? Intake of dairy, meat and fat has doubled. Intake of carb has not changed., although less rice and more processed.

-People eating Italian diet with olive oil every day of their life lived to their 90s. Healthy despite the oil, not because of. Greece, Italy are #1 and #2 in childhood obesity, US is #5.

-Olive oil and nut companies are primary promoters of a Mediterranean diet.

-The human being is a starch eater. Why is starch #1 evil now, what has changed in the last 50 years?

    I always liked doctor Mc Dougall, I haven’t listened to the whole show yet but I am a vegan of 24 years. Don’t want to cause a fuss but a vegan diet hasn’t caused me any problems and I’m 70 years old. Charlotte Gerson is 94 years young, Norman Walker was over 100 years old and it didn’t hurt them. None of my family are vegans or even vegetarian and I’m sad to say this but they all have health problems. I still have an open mind about diet but I cant dismiss what I see around me.

    Many thanks for your wonderful, informative programs on health. I have learned so much valuable new information (love my sulfur!).
    Twenty four years ago, a friend gave me a copy of Dr. McDougall’s book because she knew I was desperate to get off of my blood pressure meds. Within a week, I hesitantly began this entirely new way of eating. My doctor had to take me off my meds within 2 weeks because my blood pressure returned to normal. Fast forward to 2017 and I am still happy, healthy and medication free.
    Dr McDougall’s program has made my life a much happier journey. I wish that everyone who is suffering with lifestyle diseases would take a careful look at their diet and nutrition.

    Lumping all oils under the heading of fats is not science let alone good science. Comparing everyone to starving Cambodians is not good science unless you are a starving Cambodian. When you chart calories consumed vs any diet, you will lose weight on 1000 calories a day or less. Starvation will increase longevity up to a point. Look at the science comparing resveratrol and low calorie diets.
    They both achieve the same longevity due to stimulation of longevity genes. Sorry, Dr McD but Weston Price has done the only non biased research on diet in the last 100 yrs. You are not the only real certified medical doctor out there.

    this guy has no idea what he is talking about, a strict ketogenic diet is where the action is at in terms of helping the body to heal, Patrick needs to have Nora Gedgaudas on the show again, sorry but vegans have no idea what optimum health is
