Here is an email I received today. I am sharing it with you, (name has been changed for privacy) – thinking it will be helpful for us all.
Dear Patrick,
This may seem crazy but what about the harmful effects of
cigarettes, could you bless the pack to help you quit or to not be as harmful
while you are struggling to quit??? When I smoke and Im constantly trying to
quit, Im feeling that this may help?

Matter of fact you are
on to something. I will talk about this at length tonight at 7 PM…but, here’s a
bit now. (and you can listen to
podcast later if un available tonight>)
Blessing the cigarettes and
blessing you smoking them will help greatly. The more you take the energy of
“bad” off of something, the
easier it is to let go of it. Guilt and worry, shame etc. of doing something
exacerbates the problem,
No doubt about
it.
It is really helpful to
absolutely and totally forgive yourself for everything you do, before during and
after an action that you “know” is other than
the best. Notice the simple way of saying “other than the best……” takes the
edge off of an action we all regularly
label as bad, destructive etc. etc.
Take the energy off of
things, people, actions that are other than the best and it is so much easier to
let go of them and yes, Blessing them indeed works
wonders.

I will be listening in at 7:00! You know something, as you
are talking about forgiving yourself for everything you do.. Smoking sometimes
feels to me like a subconscious way to slip out of here, and is a form of self
punishment……So if I really truly learn to forgive myself, and learn to love
everything I am and have been. Then the smoking will have no use! It makes much
sense to me!……And as I hate the smoking, It makes me punish myself more! Now
for the learning of forgiveness!
