Hi Patrick,

Love your show.

From this morning’s aftermath of Tropical Storm Sandy here are some photos of my home town – West Haven, Connecticut, on Long Island Sound. Debris and tree limbs are on the ground all over the place. Luckily we’ve had power throughout the entire storm, though very close by there are outages. Several trees are down in my area. We are told that winds will not go over 40 mph today. The tide pushed the beach sand right across Ocean Avenue, stranding cars. The heavy wooden spiked sand barricade at the beach was ripped right out by the tide and washed up onto the side of the road.

Well here in Seymour Connecticut i lost Internet service for several hours Monday morning. Nothing bad since then! The worst seems over now. My neighbors, Bonnie and Desiree, had me over for cheese and crackers last night as we watched the winds blow through the trees lol. Nice to have nice neighbors! Thanks for asking! i live in an apartment building in the woods. Tony

Patrick,

Aimee and I are in town (Portsmouth, NH) using our laptops to check out the latest on the storm and communicate with our families. At home the power is out, along with the internet, as well as our cell phones. We were able to cook and heat with our woodstove, have plenty of water, food, wood, etc., but no communication with the outside world. Sobering and humbling. We’ll have to hear today’s broadcast on podcast when we get our power back on.

Thanks and love,

Denny in Maine

Just got back into town last night. I live in Battery Park City in downtown Manhattan, & the power was never lost. I walked home through Tribeca last night and it was dark, all stores were closed, very strange feeling. The buses are packed – I ended up walking about an hour home today. My parents are on Staten Island and are still without power. They are 80, my dad is bed-ridden, and they can’t even control the bed to lift his up and down. His bed wound is also starting to come back because the bed, which requires power, deflated. We feel blessed we didn’t lose life or home. I really feel the toll it’s taken on me, and just can’t rest until my parents once again have power. This was really a bad one. Also no phones. Thanks for your concern. love you guys…. Donna
