A study has shown that omega 3 fats can help with the psychological distress and depressive symptoms are commonly observed during menopausal transition.
Previous studies have suggested that omega 3’s can help alleviate depression.
The new study found that menopausal women with moderate-to-severe
psychological distress showed significant improvement when given the
omega 3 ethyl-eicosapentaenoic acid (E-EPA).
The study lasted for 8 weeks, and examined 120 women. It was the first trial of omega 3 supplementation in the treatment of psychological distress and depressive symptoms in middle-aged women.
