–From a listener: Question on Andy’s favorite subject coin collecting. Thanks to your show I switched my purchases to gold sovereigns a couple of years ago, (I live in UK). I have been buying Young Head Victorian sovereigns at a little over spot price. However, over a month ago, my regular supplier, Baird and Co ran out of Young head sovereigns and they haven’t had any in stock since. I had been picking them up for around 200 pounds, Young head sovereigns are available from another supplier but the price is 246 pounds a huge premium.
My question to Andy is does he think this is significant, is it a pointer for things to come? I can still get other victorian sovereigns e.g. Jubilee Head for a little over spot, would Andy recommend continuing to purchase the other sovereign coins because I feel uncomfortable paying such a premium for Young Head. Andy recommended these sons because he believed there would be a future numismatic premium, just want to say thanks for the advice!
