Brewer’s yeast is a Midday Growth Zone 2 source of protein, B vitamins, selenium, chromium, and trace minerals.
Brewer’s yeast is a remedy for Candida proliferation, an immunity problem caused by a quantitative or qualitative drop in neutrophil granulocytes.
Candida poses no threat whatsoever to someone with healthy two-pronged immunity …
1) innate immunity
2) adaptive (immune-specific) immunity
Brewer’s yeast is a deactivated and nonproliferative yeast as opposed to a proliferative one like Candida.
Rachel Carson (Silent Spring, 1962) wrote …
“The late C.P. Rhoads, onetime director of the Sloan-Kettering Institute for Cancer Research, found that test animals exposed to a very potent chemical carcinogen developed no cancer if they had just been fed yeast, a rich source of the natural B vitamins. A deficiency of these vitamins has been found to accompany mouth cancer and perhaps cancer of other sites in the digestive tract. This has been observed not only in the United States but in the far northern parts of Sweden and Finland, where the diet is ordinarily deficient in vitamins. Groups prone to primary liver cancer, as for example the Bantu tribes of Africa, are typically subject to malnutrition. Cancer of the male breast is also prevalent in parts of Africa, associated with liver disease and malnutrition. In postwar Greece enlargement of the male breast was a common accompaniment of starvation.”
There are inferior imitations of brewer’s yeast. For example, “nutritional yeast” is not the same as brewer’s yeast.
A worthwhile brewer’s yeast should give you a “niacin flush.”
People with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis should think twice about using brewer’s yeast due to inappropriate antibody reactions.
Crohn’s disease generates a much higher incidence of anti-Saccharomyces cerevisiae antibodies (ASCAs) than ulcerative colitis.
