Mindful Anger: A Pathway to Emotional Freedom
Everyone experiences anger. It’s one of the most ubiquitous forms of human emotions. But for many, the expression of anger is frequently viewed as negative, whether feared or frowned upon. And yet, anger suppression can lead to all sorts of ill effects, both physical and emotional. Headaches, digestive problems, insomnia, and even cancer can all be attributed to suppressed anger. Unless addressed, it is impossible to overcome.
Dr. Brandt has over thirty years of clinical experience. She is a recognized expert in treating a full range of emotional issues, including anger, passive-aggressiveness, anxiety, family dynamics, relationships, work-life balance, and women’s issues.
Show Highlights:
-What do we do with anger when it comes up? Dr. Brandt tells us how from the beginning, our birth, we get results through anger. And through our parents, we learn to be fearful of it. We then suppress our emotions for fear of disapproval
-Being angry can be very healthy when expressed constructively
-It’s not the anger we want to manage, but the impulse which preceeds it
-Being angry does not make you a bad person
-What is ‘mindfulness’?
-5 steps for releasing pent up energy
-Being assertive with your feelings as opposed to being aggressive or worse, passive aggressive
