Dr. Ray Peat, Ph.D
Renowned Nutritional Counselor
“It’s not what you don’t know that is a problem, it is what you know for sure that just ain’t so” Â
          – Mark Twain
“Hello Patrick from Melbourne Australia,
Just a quick message to say thank you and to let you know that I enjoyed your show with Dr Ray Peat immensely. He has so much knowledge across a broad spectrum of topics. Thank you so much for bringing him on and for doing what you do!!! I hope to hear more of Dr Peat in your future shows.â€
“I just want to tell you how much I enjoy your recent interviews with Dr Ray Peat. I am thrilled waiting for the next one. I have known his work for quite some time, but it is so refreshing to listen to your shows. I hope you will carry on with cooperation. Dr Peat has endless knowledge to share and each time I listen to him I find something new and eye-opening. His knowledge and perspective are absolutely unique. In the world of keto, low carb nonsense, sugar hate and corrupted science, he is the last voice of honesty and sanity.†Best regards Ania from Poland
Ray Peat acquired his PhD from the University of Oregon with a specialization in physiology. He started his work on hormones in 1968 and wrote his dissertation in 1972 in which he outlined his ideas on progesterone and the hormones closely related to it. His main thesis is that energy and structure are interdependent at every level.
Show highlights:
Dr Peat has been researching why is life expectancy in the U.S. decreasing; all the autoimmune problems are relatively new
Suggestions for reversing lactic acidosis
Dr. Peat’s thoughts on Shilijit
Is A2 milk good?
Dessicated thyroid for autoimmune thyroiditis: is bovine ok? Or does it need to be derived from pig?
Question from a listener: In the past half a year I have started putting sugar in coffee and also greatly increased intake of freshly pressed OJ. For me it seems to have increased dental cavities. A recent visit to a dentist resulted in a great disappointment. How do we find strength and confidence in adopting Dr. Peats recommendation of not being afraid of sugar and fruit juices. Especially when everyone else is convinced that sugar destroys teeth? Are we to consume sugar only when all other factors, such as thyroid, function optimally?
Are there any good, safe spices?
Question from a listener: Dr. Peat talks about red light but what does he think about colors of walls etc? I’ve heard that blue and green colored walls provide more happiness than red walls.
Questions from a listener: 1) Numerous recent guests on Patrick’s program have stated that it is microscopic parasites that cause unhealthy calcification of tissues, like Toxoplasmosis contributing to calcification in brain. Are there any remedies Ray can recommend for eliminating these tiny parasites and repairing the damage they can cause? 2) When a person who has been on a dairy-free diet starts drinking milk again and experiences the breakout of boils on their face, is this a sign of severe lactose intolerance, or a different issue altogether? What can a person do to improve their body’s ability to digest dairy products in a healthy manner?

1) Drinking 2-3 quarts of milk daily for calcium might seem impractical, but I think some cheeses have a very high calcium-to-phosphate ratio and can balance out the high phosphate meats. Boiled leaves like kale also are a good source of calcium to balance the meat (as Dr. Peat already mentioned), and if good cheese/leaves are unavailable then I think Dr. Peat has mentioned before that supplementing with eggshells/oyster shells would also be a good way to get calcium. Also, Dr. Peat himself hasn’t explicitly mentioned this, but from personal observations I think gelatinous meat (as opposed to muscle meat) and potatoes protect against the inflammatory effect of phosphate even though they aren’t calcium-rich.
2) From personal experience sugar can cause teeth pain by stimulating your metabolism and aggravating a B6, zinc, vitamin D, calcium (maybe B2 also) deficiency and phosphate excess but it itself isn’t the cause of teeth decay.

Please don’t follow Ray Peat’s ideas. My family did and we ended up with cancer and all sorts of problems. His diet makes you get fat fast! The fastest weight gain ever. His followers kept saying your body will adjust or to just have more weight on. His entire theory is horrible. Sugar causes cancer. Calcium calcifies. Now all four of us are struggling with our health. I have stage IV lung cancer after following his diet. Coke is bad for you. Sugar feeds cancer. Great to try to promote horrible foods and give so-called evidence to support a very very unhealthy diet. Ray Peat has horrible skin! Please do not follow this man – he sounds intelligent, but his theories are so wrong. My family wishes we never followed his advice! Never!

Cancer often finds it origin like twenty years earlier, so to suggest this is caused by anything Peat does not suggest you have been making wise conclusions in the present or the past… Sure, don’t follow anyone blindly — this goes for you too.
Many people are denying “sugar feeds cancer” — not just Ray. Don’t snap back to mainstream programming :)
Things that help cause Lung cancer can be…: deep grief, stuff you breathe or have in the past, too much x-rays, chronic constipation, etc. It can also be misdiagnosed and really be fungal.
I’ve always remembered reading this…
John Ott (Health & Light, 1973): “A personal friend of mine told me of an acquaintance of his, a man in his early seventies who had just been diagnosed as having terminal lung cancer. This man lived in the southwest and wore sunglasses most of the time. My friend sent him a copy of My Ivory Cellar and a set of the instruction sheets that had been given to the 15 patients in NY City for living outdoors as much as possible and avoiding artificial light sources. The elderly lung cancer patient agreed to follow the instructions. The tumor completely disappeared and he lived for approx. 8 years before dying of a heart complication. The diagnosis of lung cancer had been made at a large veterans’ hospital, but unfortunately, we were unable to obtain any further medical details regarding the diagnosis.”

Wow, Donna, You think coke is healthy? Ray don’t recommend coke at all. Did you do some phone consultation or you follow some tips share by other people? Its sad you have cancer, but say that Ray is responsible for that seen illogical. You seen more like a person frustrated and have no idea about your health and some theory.
Hope you have a better health.

I have been following a Ray Peat inspired diet for 9 years, and my weight went from 181 to 152, so I’m not sure how you can justify his ideas making you “get fat fast”.
You say “his entire theory is horrible”, but your theory about sugar causing cancer has what proof? I understand that’s your theory, but where’s the proof that it does?
I absolutely 100% agree that Coke is bad for you. Who says it’s healthy? I’ve never heard Ray say that. Only time I’ve ever heard him mention coke was when he said he didn’t have access to fresh fruit and needed a source of sugar. Doesn’t mean it’s healthy to consume.
Again, you say “sugar feeds cancer”. How do you figure? Do you even understand what cancer is?
“Ray Peat has horrible skin!” He’s 84 years old! What do you expect? Him to look like Justin Bieber? I mean, come on, seriously.
You cannot get stage IV lung cancer from eating a milk and fruit diet such as Ray recommends. There are MANY other factors at play, especially emotions. And judging from your negative attitude and bitterness, I’d say that played a huge role in it.
I recommend reading “The Emotion Code” immediately. Releasing trapped emotions had a profound impact on my own life. And no diet was a healthy diet for me when I had so many blockages in my energy field from trapped/negative emotions.
