Why are so many longevity “experts” under 50 years old and sell supplements?
And other longevity “experts” – the “scientific” type – cut up medflies and mice to study human longevity?
Why don’t we ask really, really, really old healthy people what they do to stay young well into their hundreds?
Why don’t we ask guys like the Sikh vegetarian Fauja Singh – the Turbaned Tornado, the Pounding Pensioner, etc. – what he’s been doing to stay young at 101 revolutions around the Sun?
Fauja Singh runs marathons and carried the Olympic Torch in July, 2012.
He eats simple foods, basically …
(1) chapatis,
(2) lentils (dal),
(3) green vegetables,
(4) fruit,
(5) rice pudding, and
(6) yogurt.
And he drinks “copious amounts of tea.”
He claims he avoids milk because …
“I’m scared of building up phlegm”
According to Fauja Singh …
“My life is protected because I control what I eat.”
“Most people in Britain eat a rich diet. don’t move about and only travel in cars, and that makes them sick.”
“Punjabi people know eating and drinking is important, but I just eat the minimum of what I need: some dal and roti, gobi and chai – I’d probably be dead if I was full all the time.”
(Note from Atom – My Sikh friend, Paramjit Dhaliwal Singh stops eating as soon as his breath changes.
I hung out with Paramjit in Manhattan in the 1980s, and he stayed healthy on an almost-exclusive diet of french fries, milk, coffee, and Rollo candy bars, but I don’t recommend it.)
According to Fauja Singh …
“I am very careful about different foods. my diet is simple phulka, dal, green vegetables, yogurt, and milk. I do not touch parathas, pakoras, rice, or any other fried food. I take lots of water and tea with ginger.”
(Note from Atom – At least one Londoner saw him eating rice pudding.
Perhaps he was referring to fried rice in the above statement.)
Fauja Singh’s positive attitude is most important …
“Why worry about these small, small things? I don’t stress. You never hear of anyone dying of happiness.”
“I do not consider myself to be old. From the moment I do that, I would lose everything, because age is a state of mind – as long as you’re positive you can do anything.”
“40 or 50 of us have Sikh discussions at the local Gurdwara. One day they asked us to raise our hands if we do not take any medicine or tablets. Out of 50 people I was the only one to raise my hand and say that I have never taken medicine.”
(Note from Atom: That’s because the other 40 or 49 “sheeple” were infected by the fear-mongering “we’ll take care of you from cradle to grave” propaganda of the Military-Industrial-Medical-Prison Complex – Ralph Metzner’s name for the New World Economic Order.)
