Half Life Of Lipofuscin

Re: My age spots are increasing. I was hoping that, given the four-year half life of PUFAs, I would have excreted much of it out of my body in the last ten years of being careful.
Tissues and organs do not all age at a uniform rate.
Organs can be decades apart in aging, depending on the weakest link in macromolecules.
Omega 3 fatty acids are mildly toxic, but other factors can increase their toxicity exponentially.
So my first questions are …
“How much sun exposure have you had?”
“Are you living in a windy or dry climate that can dehydrate the skin?”
“X-ray exposure?”
“How much iron and manganese are in your diet?”
“Fluoride?”
“Carrageenan?”
“Endotoxins? Exotoxins?”
“Do you have ‘Heart Lines’ in your earlobes?”
“Do you have any ‘A-framed’ toenails?”

The dermis and the hypodermis are especially vulnerable to stress hormones because they are part of the adrenal medulla — “part of,” not “connected to,” the adrenal medulla.
Think of omega 3 fatty acids as the building blocks, and a variety of chemicals as the construction machinery …
estrogen, serotonin, melatonin, nitric oxide, histamine, cortisol, adrenaline, noradrenaline, acetylcholine, catecholamines, advanced glycation end-products (AGEs), etc.
<>
The half life of omega 3 fatty acids is not the same as the half life of lipofuscin.
Apoptosis and autophagy are the preferred way of eliminating lipofuscin.
Necrosis, oncosis, and pyroptosis eliminate lipofuscin but generate its production in surrounding cells via inflammation — not a good idea!

Cancer cells have the potential to be immortal. But they’re not all immortal.
The cancer cells of Henrietta Lacks (1920-1951) certainly were, so almost all cancer research is based on an actual immortal cell line.
Where does that leave everyone else who encounters cancer without the proper knowledge?
Cancer is a lifesaving tool like a fireplace during a Montana winter as long as it doesn’t catch your house on fire and burn it to the ground.

Raw iceberg lettuce is a good source of opiates.
Starving Mexican mothers feed their babies lettuce juice to stop them from crying.
Re: I wonder if that’s why wild lettuce is supposed to have pain relieving qualities?
Its other name is “opium lettuce.”
Re: Can you smoke wild lettuce?
According to Dr. Google …
“The wild lettuce herb has had many uses: as sedative, painkiller, and hallucinogenic. Many of these uses come from homeopathic medicine and have only recently been investigated. Typically, it is used as a powder and added to lotion or creams, but it can also be boiled or smoked.”

Adano Ley (Swami Nitty-Gritty) was the first person who told me about the natural opiates in lettuce.
I thought he was messing with our heads till I met a lettuce addict in El Paso.
His idea of a midnight snack was a whole head of lettuce and nothing else.

When I did eat lettuce — back in the days of my misspent youth — I drowned my slices of lettuce in blue cheese salad dressing to make it palatable.
Yet I’ve met two people who had no problem downing an entire head in one sitting.

Re: How do we learn to face ourselves?
Not like one client I had. She couldn’t “face” (her word) her husband after having an affair, and ended up with cancer of the LEFT cheek.

Hi Atom, what is your opinion about Shilajit, can our body use it?
October 18, 2021 @ 11:05 pm Atom
Ayurvedic physicians use shilajit for short periods of time. Ray Peat walks big circles around it, but I have friends who swear by it. I haven’t seen any reliable research, but it’s apparently an ancient remedy. Ayurvedic doctors prescribe shilajit for broken bones, diabetes, impotence, premature ejaculation, etc. Shilajit allegedly contains “benzoic acid, hippuric acid, and fulvic acid,” as well as, “silica, iron, antimony, calcium, copper, lithium, magnesium, manganese, molybdenum, phosphorus, sodium, strontium, and zinc,” according to one “traditional practice” textbook.

Always love reading your blogs Atom!
I know you like oranges, they’re a staple of my diet thanks to you and Ray Peat.
What was the type of vitamin C that was found in oranges you’ve talked about?
Thanks!

Vitamin C in its supplement from is the antioxidant ascorbic acid. Vitamin C in its usual food form is the oxidant dehydroascorbic acid. Ray Peat is a champion of dehydroascorbic acid because of its oxidative qualities. I have a somewhat different interpretation, but still avoid the supplemental form.

Awesome, thanks!

*Thumbs Up!* Thanks for the question!
