Decentralizing for Peace and Freedom
Michael Maharrey serves as the executive director for OffNow, and the national communications director for the Tenth Amendment Center.
Hailing from Lexington, Ky., he’s extremely proud that his home state originated the Principles of ’98, laying the groundwork for state nullification of unconstitutional acts.
Michael is the author of three books. Our Last Hope – Rediscovering the Lost Path to Liberty, makes the historical, philosophical and moral case for nullification. Smashing Myths: Understanding Madison’s Notes on Nullification digs deep into James Madison’s views on nullification, focusing on his writing’s later in life. Finally, Michael joined Tenth Amendment Center executive director Micheal Boldin in penning Nullification Objections: Dismantling the Opposition, a book that takes apart the common objections to nullification one at a time.
Show Highlights:
-The Federal government has no power to inhibit the use of a plant in any state; coming off our interview with Rick Simpson, we ask Mr. Maharrey about the legality of growing cannabis
-The confusion over the Constitution and it’s amendments
-The 10th Amendment and what it says
-How in the world was Obamacare even passed?
-Changing things from the bottom up: We like complaining about the actions of the government, but what are we doing to change things? Mike Maharrey tells us about the power we carry and the changes we can make at a state level by letting our congressmen know where we stand on issues and what we expect of them.
-States with the most aggressive action against the Fed. government
-Question from a listener:I understand what your guest says that the Federal Govt can’t make the states do their dirty work but that all changes when the state or County Sheriff takes government funds. Once an agency takes government funds the government can hold that over their head and make them do what they want or give that money back, correct?
