This backs up what Sharon was saying about the kids being used to this kind of thing. Those of us who grew up without internet and cell phones might recoil. They say the FDA already approved this device and it may be what Patrick was referring to because she says that it has use in medications so they can tell you took the pill.
The way she talks it is clear she is promoting transhumanism and speaking in a way to appeal to the youth market. Here are some quotes in particular.
“We got to do a lot of epic shit when I was at Darpa.”
“One really important problem… authentication… authentication is so irritating.” (passwords and PINs)
“We are talking about wearables. I am profoundly interested in wearables,” she says almost like a valley girl… dragging out her words making extra syllables.
“One of the big problems is the mechanical mismatch between humans and electronics…”
“Now, it may be true that ten to twenty year olds don’t want to wear a watch on their wrist but you can be sure they will be far more interested in wearing an electronic tattoo if only to piss of their parents.” ha ha ha, audience laughs..
“Options. Options….”
“I take a vitamin every morning, what if I could take vitamin authentication…?”
“Essentially your entire body becomes your authentication token…. What it means is that that becomes my first SUPERPOWER. I really want this superpower. It means that my arms are like wires, my hands are like alligator clips… when I touch my phone, my computer, my car, I’m authenticated in. That becomes my first superpower…. like I want that.” Like, do you? Like, totally dude.
This lady from DARPA really talks like a kid? Like, I really like doubt it, okay? She’s 53 and very highly educated.
