Meditation involving FOCUS is really self-hypnosis.
It has a time and a place and a season.
Actual meditation is a mindless state fostering freedom from fixation.
Counting the breath is self-hypnosis.
Actual meditation is a breathless state.
Adano Ley (Swami Nitty-Gritty) cautioned …
“Counting repetitions generates lactic acid and makes you tired.”
In fact, counting is the CAUSE of sleep.
Rabbi Michael Shapiro of the Scottsdale Torah Institute recommends meditating in a non-focused state, switching to peripheral vision (RODS) away from what he calls “predator vision” (CONES).
Rods are more numerous than cones, and much more sensitive to light.
I stumbled on to the technique in the 1970s while meditating out in the woods at a Sufi Camp in North Carolina.
Concentration increases will power.
Meditation weakens will power, including the will power of the subconscious mind.
The New World Order’s educational shrink-wrapping is 99 percent hypnotic suggestion, even to the folks who DESIRE it but can’t afford it … even to those who simply ACKNOWLEDGE it.
THOUSANDS of experiments in SUGGESTIBILITY were conducted at Harvard University alone in the 1890s.
Ivan Illich (Deschooling Society, 1983) wrote …
“The university thus has the effect of imposing standards at work and at home, and it does so in every part of the world and under every political system. The fewer university graduates there are in a country, the more their cultivated demands are taken as models by the rest of the population.”
Children, it’s never to early to drop out of school.
Adano was in school for only ONE DAY.
Louis L’Amour couldn’t get a proper education in school, so he dropped out at fifteen in the middle of the tenth grade.
To be fair, Mr. L’Amour advised against it if you’re not already reading at least 400 non-fiction books a year like he was.
His unconventional education is detailed in his autobiographical Education of a Wandering Man, 1989.
Venture capitalist and PayPal founder Peter Thiel is giving $100,000 each to 24 college students if they quit going to school.
Futurist FM-2030 (Are You a Transhuman? Monitoring and Stimulating Your Personal Rate of Growth in a Rapidly Changing World, 1989) wrote …
“In our times the only valid diploma is update.”
U.S. educators have used hypnosis and brainwashing techniques for well over a hundred years.
William James (The Principles of Psychology, Vol. 2, 1891) wrote …
“Children under three and four and insane persons, especially idiots, are usually hard to hypnotize. This seems due to the impossibility of getting them to fix their attention continually on the idea of the coming trance. All ages above infancy are probably equally hypotizable, as are all races and both sexes.”
Adano said …
“Genius is a nutritional deficiency.”
Cesare Lombroso (The Man of Genius, 1896) wrote …
“The paradox that confounds genius with neurosis, however cruel and sad it may seem, is found not to be devoid of solid foundation when examined from several points of view which have escaped even recent observers.”
Mr. Lombroso – the Father of Modern Criminology – goes on to make his point in great detail for 370 pages.
Back to MY point …
ADHD – attention deficit hyperactivity disorder – is opposed to FOCUS.
No focus, no hypnotism.
Today’s updating of Mark Twain’s 1878 classic is The ADHD-ventures of Tom Sawyer.
Anti-meditation “academic steroids” include Adderall, Concerta, Daytrana, Dexedrine, Focalin, Metadate, and Ritalin.
It’s Medadate versus Meditate and ADHD …
… and versus …
ADHD Predominantly Inattentive Type (DSM-IV 314.00),
ADHD Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive Type (DSM-IV 314.01),
ADHD Combined Type (DSM-IV 314.01),
Conduct Disorder (DSM-IV 312.82),
Oppositional-Defiant Disorder (DSM-IV 14.81), yatata yatata yatata.
SPEED KILLS … unless you can deal it legally to kids.
Ritalin’s street name is Vitamin R.
Fred A. Baughman Jr. M.D., with Craig Hovey (The ADHD Fraud: How Psychiatry Makes ‘Patients’ Out of Normal Children, 2006) wrote …
“… because there is still no evidence to warrant consideration of ADHD as a medical disease, it does not make sense to refer to anybody ‘with’ or ‘having’ ADHD.”
When ScienTOMogist Tom Cruise exclaimed, “Matt, Matt, Matt, Matt” to Today show co-anchor Matt Lauer about modern establishment psychiatry being a pseudoscience, he was Right On.
So long as we don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater. :)
