Atom Bergstrom, born Gosta Ingvar Bergstrom, Jr, is credited as the founder of Sun Sync and the leading expert on a Sun-Centric lifestyle.

Atom’s journey towards health, nutrition, longevity, and meditation goes back to 1955, when he first started reading books by D.C. Jarvis, J.I. Rodale, Carlton Fredericks, Adelle Davis, Aldous Huxley, Paramahansa Yogananda, Swami Prabhavananda, and numerous others. His exposure to the above mentioned authors instigated a deep desire and passion to understand and unlock the secrets to optimal human wellness and longevity.

Atom was inspired by the words of Thomas Jefferson: “School teaches all of the branches, but none of the roots.” He sought the answers to his questions, not in classrooms, but in books, relationships, and life experiences. His quest for true knowledge and wisdom began by studying in hundreds of libraries across the country and evolved by studying with teachers and masters including Swami Adano Ley, Sufi Adnan Sarhan, Rabbi Michael Shapiro, Taoist Master Yun Xiang Tseng, and Fitness Icon Gypsy Boots.

His most significant teacher was Swami Adano Ley with whom he spent 14 years. During this time, he studied a variety of sciences extensively, including the sun centric lifestyle, and ultimately graduated from Adano Ley’s Texas Institute of Reflex Sciences. The knowledge and wisdom he gained studying under a highly evolved swami combined with his emphasis on scientific research & personal experience would soon become the heartbeat of Sun Sync Nutrition.

For the past 40 years, Atom has dedicated his life to the continuous learning and teaching of Sun Sync Nutrition, Time Conscious Eating, Cosmo-Chemistry, Reflexology, Muscle Response Testing, Body Language Analysis, Iris Analysis, Lucid Dreaming, Meditation and many other sciences.

Show highlights:

-Are all experiences interconnected?  There are no accidents.  Symbology in everyday living.

-Patrick is concerned that Dr. Ellie’s mouth care system is not working energetically for him.

-33% of all healing is placebo effect, which explains testimonials about the effectiveness of sham treatments.

-John Beard used sulfur in the form of ox gall in his cancer formula.

-DHA, EPA, and ALA cause Yellow Fat Disease.  Their derivation from algae and promotion of them by NASA, Martin Marietta, National Geographic is a scandal.  Genetic algae added to baby formula, Horizon organic milk, etc. is poison to people.  Nile crocodiles wiped out from Yellow Fat Disease after algae-eating fish introduced into their food chain; it’s not from toxins in the water.  All animals are impacted.  Use quotation remarks around “Yellow Fat Disease” and do an internet search looking at at least 4-5 pages.  Can add various animal names in the search term.  Horse and other animals carcasses with yellow fat disease can be seen in photos and autopsy reports.   Desert people are the longest-living; it’s because they didn’t have access to fish.  Feeding of DHA/EPA/ALA makes animals fat.  Don’t take fish oil.  Flax, soy, chia, perilla, ligonberry, krill, tongue oils need to be avoided.  Age spots are an omega 3 bar code.  For each age spot on the skin, have 10,000 in the body.   Indicator that the body has lipofuscin and ceroid are in the body.  Butter, olive oil, and coconut oil are wonderful.

-If you’re going to eat salmon, eat with foods high in Vitamin E, such as almonds.

-To relax, eat blue food.  Red makes you hungry.

Hour 2

-Steve asks if Atom is familiar with bioenergy/feedback diagnostic/treatment devices such as SCIO or Indigo.  Atom says no, he prefers to work with color therapy.

D said carrots were originally eaten only by the horses.  People were feeding them only to the horses and started eating carrots themselves afterwards.

-We have 4 nervous systems.  Chemical and neurological sympathetic nervous systems, chemical and neurological parasympathetic.  Also an enteric cystem.  Red light stimulates sympathetic, is good at night.  Science has endorphins and serotonin mixed up and backwards, same with parasympathetic and sympathetic.  See Zen meditation author.

-Revici had the right understanding of the sympathetic/parasympathetic, but they stole it from him.  Fish oils will  stop pain and inflammation initially, but you pay a price when you get even more inflammed later on.  To test if your liver is healthy, take half a stick of butter and eat it.  If you throw up or get the poops, then your liver isn’t working right.  More informative than a liver enzyme test.

-Red light is more healing than the infrared part.  Both are healing.

-Yellow bug lights are good for night time reading.  LED lights are counterproductive for red light therapy.

-Steve asks how to eliminate ovarian cancer.  It’s product of yellow fat disease.  Also follows from estrogen, which is actually not a female hormone – it determines the male sex.  Estrogen does not determine bone strength, testosterone does.  Doesn’t advise”female hormones”, biologically identical are worse.  Ovarian cancer is spread by “air force”.  Gets sped up with baking soda.

 -Dr. Revici wrote “Research in Physiopathology As Basis of Guided Chemotherapy – with Special Application to Cancer.” That Crazy Pharmacist has a link to a pdf online version of the book and individual chapters.  A non-pdf version is here.  Read the first chapter to understand the theory, then use the search function to access specific problems.

-Joe has a shingles problem.   Vitamin D helpful.  Stay in the dark, use dim red light only, not chicken lights.  People used to be sequestered behind red cloth.  Put your food in the sun to get Vit D.  Don’t put food in glass or plastic, but can cover with Saran Wrap.

-Listener has a sty.  Minimum exposure to sun.  Red light can help, especially at sunrise and sundown.

-Any color but red bounces.  Red light stimulates sympathetic nervous system.

-Boris asks what to do for a perforated stomach.  Look at stress and cognitive shock.  Look at what you’re eating – allergic or reacting to something.  It’s the rennet and pepsin that does the digestion, not the hydrochloric acid.   HCL provides the proper acid milieu for the pepsin to work.

-Juan asks how long one should expose themselves to different colors when using color recycling?

-Jo wonders how many cups of coffee Atom drinks in a day?  He drinks a quart of cobalamin tonic before noon, none after.  Harvard and Ray Peat say 5 cups is what is recommended.  People were healthy before coffee was discovered.  If it wires you up, don’t drink it.  It’s not an element of the SunSync program.

-What does it mean to wake up between 4 and 4:30 every morning?  If 3:30 am solar time, great, it’s an ideal time to wake up and meditate and do something creative.  2:30-5 am solar time is the most creative time.

-Carol asks about grapefruit seed oil.  It’s one of the worst of all oils.  How to eliminate steroids in the body?  Eat alkaline foods.  Plant steroids make us acidic.  Fatty acids make us alkaline.  Build steroids with meat, saturated fat, cholesterol, remove with calcium.

-Steve asks about Hulda Clark and the Ultimate zappers.  Atom has investigated zappers and doesn’t see much results for cancer and serious problems.

-Carole wants to know about Vitamin E supplements.  Atom threw his Vit E away when he found out they are nano now   and are causing cataracts.  Atom gets Vit E from almonds, other foods.

Hour 3

-Carrots were originally purple.  D says a few centuries ago people in the Netherlands made carrots orange in honor of their queen.    Round-ended carrots are the best.

-Potato soup started with Ray Peat.  Potatoes have an incomplete keto protein structure, are a carbon looking for ammonia.  Once you eat the keto compartment, it joins up with the ammonia in the body and makes it into protein.   Especially good for people on dialysis who have excess ammonia.  To make, peel and juice a potato, let juice sit for 30 minutes.  Discard the starch that falls to the bottom.  Cook juice for 45 minutes.  Yukon Gold makes juicier soup, Russet is thicker.  Atom and Vibrant Gal eat 8 oz. each at night time.

-D asks how to get marine Omega 3’s.  They are the poison.  No such thing as essential fatty acids.  DHA is the worst.

– Fluorine is a very powerful chemical.  Most active element in the universe.  Loosens cartilage in teeth and will eventually lead to them falling out.

-John wants more information on the correlation between psoriasis and the thyroid gland.  The thyroid is the master gland -and it tells the pituitary what to do.  It’s related to leaky gut.  Most cases of fast thyroid are the thyroid trying to correct itself and will balance themselves out.  Thyroid used to be used routinely to treat psoriasis.  For thyroid health, blend peeled oranges and drink at 9-11 spleen pancreas time and just before bedtime.

-What does Atom think of coffee enemas for liver detox?  He prefers to detox from the north end rather than the south end.  Cecum is important as the second stomach.

-Steve says Dr. Jorge Flechas’s video about the health benefits of boron at http://tiny.cc/boronvideo says there is zero boron in the soil in Jamaica; 70% of the population there have arthritis.  Average boron consumption in the US is 2-3 mg; 23% have arthritis.  Average boron consumption in Israel is 10-30 mg., less than 0.5% have arthritis.  Boron improves cognition, prevents loose teeth, regulates testosterone & estrogen, etc.  1/8 tsp. of borax provides 50 mg. of boron.  Magnesium is a regulator, so it’s important to consume as well.  What does Atom think about supplementing with borax/boron?

-Atom wrote a book called “Too Much Iodine”.  How come the Indians in Wisconsin didn’t get goiter, but the white people did?  Why didn’t the desert people get goiters?  Iodine needed to transform pollywogs to frogs.  Is a powerful halogen.  Proper dose and timing are critical.

-Drink warm liquids to stay cool.

-What factors are involved in a deep, restorative, restful sleep – staying asleep all night?  Delta sleep is deepest state.  Need saturated fats for deep sleep.

-What does Atom think of using colloidal silver with a nebulizer for an infection of the lungs?  Only for a serious infection.  Atom likes the build-immunity and make-peace approach and not the kill approach.

-John asks what Atom thinks about using mastic gum to heal his ulcer.  Not much.  Best way is to heal the thyroid and the liver.

-Many cavities are stopped with a healthy thyroid.  Keep the mouth closed for a healthy thyroid.

-What happens when light and dark impressions remain on the brain after looking at light for a while?

-Carol says spirulina turned hair black from grey and dull.  Atom likes it for cancer, but not at the wrong time and only in small amounts.  He won’t do blue-green algae.  If the wrong stage, causes drop-dead disease in cattle.

-Josephine asks about orange glasses to wear at night while watching TV?  Good strategy.  We had fire at night in the cave man days.  Best light is incandescent light.  LED light is toxic, and the most toxic is red LED light.  Refer to Paul Wheaton, aka The Duke of Permaculture, for details on LED light toxicity and the advantages of incandescent.

-Lois says “Yes, No, Maybe” is difficult to read because of lavender print.  Make sure you don’t have a violet trauma, which happens when a religious authority tells you to figure it out yourself.  SunSync Nutrition membership doesn’t include any of his books, but his blogs there plus on ORN have a lot of information on Yellow Fat Disease.

-Researcher in New Zealand says DHA doesn’t do anything.

    I looked for information on Adam’s statement that Vitamin E and A increase the the chance of developing cancer by 50 percent, and could not find anything Maybe you could ask him next time where he gets this idea. This is of course asked in the spirit of curiosity and additional information and not in critical manner Thanks

      Harvard Medical School — for one — about vitamin E.

      Many sources for the beta-carotene form of pro-vitamin A.

      Regarding E, it’s only the supplement form, which is not the same E available in food.

      Regarding beta-carotene, it’s true for the food form too, esp. for people with diabetes and other metabolic disorders.

      Beta-carotene is a polyunsaturated fatty acid form of vitamin A.

      Most vitamins are now manufactured with GMO-bacteria because it’s less expensive than the “synthetic” way.

      Vitamins subdivide into vitamers, and continue subdividing into unclassified categories thereafter.

    Hi Atom, Can you get yellow fat disease from the omega 3s that are supposed to be in the plant purslane?

      It’s best to keep purslane to a minimum because of both the omega 3 fatty acids and the oxalic acid.

      Chickens fed purslane have 10 times the omega 3 fatty acids as in typical U.S. eggs.

      However, in its defense, purslane IS loaded with antidotes such as vitamin E and other antioxidants.

      It’s listed on the Sun Sync food list as MIDDAY, but because of its CAM (crassulacean acid metabolism) pathway, it’s an EVENING food too.

      If you’re growing it yourself, harvesting it in the morning and eating it either at midday or evening is your safest bet.

      The morning vs. evening harvest is explained by Wikipedia (near the bottom) …

        Thank you so much for purslane info (and interesting link), Atom! This brings up another question: Would cooking the purslane get rid of/lessen either the Omega 3 or the oxalic acid?

          Cooking destroys very little of omega 3 fatty acids, and may actually enhance their uptake.

          Regarding oxalates, read Lynne’s comment below.

          Oxalates can also be mitigated by dextrinization.

    Ellen, if you boil it in a lot of water then discard the water, this will remove a certain amount of oxalates (google to find percentage). Don’t know what that wold do to the DHA.

    Atom, I gather you don’t go to bed until at least midnight, if you’re eating an orange at that time. I’ve heard being asleep between 11pm-1am is essential for most HGH production. What’s your perspective on this?

      hGH is especially tough on kidneys.

      hGH controls cartilage growth. That’s one reason ears and noses keep growing.

      Much of the “growth” associated with hGH is the extra weight of edema.

      Potato Protein Soup (according to Ray Peat)

      Peel potatoes.
      Juice them into juice-starch.
      Let the starch settle to the bottom.
      Ladle out the juice, leaving the starch behind.
      Dump the starch.
      The juice contains potato ketones that combine with the body’s own ammonia to create a superior protein.
      Add salt to taste.
      Cook for at least 45 minutes in a non-reactive pot, stirring and adding water as needed.
      Keep stirring so the potato protein doesn’t stick to the pot.

      Cooking detoxifies any potato starch residue.
