Invisibility?

Jan (not her real name) was having an argument with her boyfriend.

The drama unfolded in front of the health food store I managed. Adano Ley (Swami Nitty-Gritty), Melissa Wolfe, Hugo Conte, and Ginger Doyle were visiting me.

Jan ran into the store, asking, “Can I use your phone to call the police?”

She dialed the police station  then changed her mind, and greeted all of us … except Adano, who she knew very well.

I thought this was strange, since Jan had taken several workshops from Adano, and acted like she didn’t see him.

As Jan walked past Adano, Ginger said, “Adano,” about to ask a question.

He slapped Ginger on the top of the head, and put his finger to his mouth, indicating, don’t speak in Jan’s presence … as though his name would give him away.

We watched the drama escalate, but the boyfriend finally drove away.

Jan walked back inside the store, and we talked. She still didn’t seem to see Adano, although Melissa had her arm over his shoulder and he was holding her around the waist.

Jan chitchatted with us for awhile, never acknowledging Adano.

When she left, Adano explained his technique of invisibility, where “you wrap light around you to make yourself invisible.”

Time passed, and Jan moved to Wisconsin, and we occasionally talked on the phone.

One day, I asked, “Remember the day you had that fight with your boyfriend in front of Scandia [health food store], and you came in and talked with us.”

“Yes,” said Jan.

“Do you remember talking to Melissa, Hugo, and Ginger?”

“Yes,” again.

“Why didn’t you say, ‘Hello,’ to Adano?”

“Adano? He wasn’t there.”

“Oh, yes, he was.”

“No, he wasn’t!” she exclaimed.

“Yes, he was.”

“What are you talking about? Don’t you think I would have known if he was there?”

She refused to believe me.

Was it hypnosis? Did Adano really make himself invisible? You be the judge.

Adano would not be fun to play Hide and Seek with unless a person could learn to see the distortion of his reflective field. Haha. Recently I listened to a 2017 podcast where you said how important playing is. You are right, it feels different. Small changes… big results.

Didn’t part of the story have Adono explain the secret was in the breathing technique to match the person’s breath that you can become invisible to? Or was that a different story?

The breathing technique wraps light around you to make yourself invisible.
