Activated charcoal is a finely powdered and pyrolized form of carbon black that’s known as the “universal antidote” because its huge surface area adsorbs many times its own weight in poisons.
It’s widely used to filter pollutants from both air and water.
Wood and coconut charcoal have been used in Ayurvedic Medicine for centuries.
Captain Ajit Vadakayil (Jun. 17, 2012) wrote …
“The ancient Maharishis of Kerala had injected enough King Cobra venom to kill a huge elephant in a small dog with no harm done. Of course the venom was mixed with activated charcoal powder.”
“Monkey Brand Black Tooth Powder” is an Ayurvedic dental care product composed of essential oils and other ingredients mixed in finely-ground wood charcoal.
Charcoal adsorbs. It doesn’t absorb.
Adsorption is surface-based. Absorption assimilates the entire volume.
Glenn M. Roy (Activated Carbon Applications in the Food and Pharmaceutical Industries, 1995) wrote …
“Activated carbon has the highest volume of adsorptive porosity of any material known to man. Because of its large surface area (1 quart of granules = 6 football fields), activated carbon has a great ability to adsorb organic molecules of liquids or vapors.”
Greek toast (scraped burned toast) works in a similar way.
Adano Ley (Swami Nitty-Gritty) said …
“Scrape the black off the toast, and leave the brown for gas removal.”

Activated charcoal pulling almost certainly outperforms oil pulling. :)
Bamboo charcoal powder is available on the internet.
