Re: What bad effects might black pepper cause?

It’s a carcinogen and precipitates gall stones.

The safrole and tannins need a co-factor from above or below to “finish the job.”

Remember when sassafras was illegal because of the carcinogenic safrole?

Black pepper has twice as much safrole but better lobbyists.

Re: Doesn’t black pepper help curcurmin absorb?

Definitely. Unfortunately, curcurmin helps black pepper absorb too.

Re: Why, unfortunately?

Not for everyone. It’s a boon to oncologists and radiologists.

Re: So black pepper causes cancer?

Safrole is a carcinogen, so it only helps create cancer under the “right” circumstances.

Very few chemicals actually cause cancer. Cancer is NOT “in the genes.”

Most chemicals are co-factors in cancer’s recipe, often involving all seven periods of the Periodic Table of the Elements.

Re: Odd how so many diets suggest black pepper for health!

Just like fish oil, estrogen, nitric oxide, serotonin, melatonin, endorphins, , and the other usual suspects!

Even Andrew Weil falls prey to fish oil, but at least he walks big circles around black pepper.

He’d be better off if it were the reverse.

Black pepper is a natural pesticide.

It’s much more likely to cause cancer on human skin than it is in the human gullet.

Black pepper targets the liver and the gall bladder.

The silicon in black pepper acts like an irritant in an oyster, creating an unwanted “pearl.”

Wade Shaddy (“How to Plug Up Your Radiator Leak With Pepper,” It Still Runs, 2021) wrote …

“Old school auto repair works. Some emergency repairs are still being used. One of them is the use of black pepper to seal small radiator leaks. When black pepper is introduced into the system, the small particles travel to the leak where they expand and seal the leak. The pepper does not deteriorate and will seal the leak until you can get it fixed by a professional.”
