Cancer & the Mind #1

According to Adano Ley (Swami Nitty-Gritty) …

“Cancer is caused by the need to be right.”

We all try to justify our ANGUISH.

Those who try harder than others are vulnerable to cancer.

George Ivanovich Gurdjieff warned us that our PAIN IS THE HARDEST THING TO GIVE UP.

<>

Emanuel Revici, M.D. (Research in Physiopathology As Basis of Guided Chemotherapy: With Special Application To Cancer, 1961) wrote …

“… one general, emotional pattern has been found in over 50% of the 300 studied cancer patients and in approximately 10% of the equated controls: An early life history with much self-doubting and some anxiety over relating to others; the establishment of one personal relationship that afforded a high degree of satisfaction, meaning and validity to the individual and provided him with a ‘raison d’etre’; and the loss of this relationship, followed by inability to find a substitute, and a period of intense (if often concealed) depression. This has been elaborated upon, and case histories presented in various publications.”

<>

Dr. Lawrence LeShan did research for Revici’s Institute of Applied Biology for twelve years, starting in 1952.

<>

Gregory McQuerter (“Cancer: Clues in the Mind,” Science News, Jan. 21, 1978) wrote …

“LeShan writes in his You Can Fight For Your Life: Emotional Factors in the Causation of Cancer (M. Evans, 1977) that three emotional aspects occurred in his patients significantly more often than in a control group of 12,000 Worthington profiles [Worthington personality History] take from industrial studies: An inability to express anger or resentment coupled with a ‘facade of benign goodness’; the presence of ‘indicators of emotional tension concerning the death of a parent’; and the loss of the patients ‘reason for being’; a pervasive despair that seemed to arise (at least in part) from a long series of perceived failures and the loss of a central relationship present in 68 of the 71 patients undergoing analysis.”

Mind Reading For the Millions (Men to the Left, Women to the Right) has been completely updated and revised.

A woman couldn’t “face” her husband after having an affair.

A cancer was surgically removed from her left cheek.

    <>

A man had shoulder surgery, but the intense pain returned.

He was having an affair with a married woman, and commented, “I keep looking over my shoulder.”

My friend Judy Utley had a “Living to Live” attitude.

She was diagnosed with cancer of the spine, lungs, breasts, etc.

Her doctor said, “How did you even manage to walk into my office? Go home and get your affairs in order. There’s nothing I can do for you.”

She lived for eight or nine more years, continuing to chain-smoke tobacco cigarettes.

Judy told me she wanted to live long enough to meet the “love of her life.”

She did, and they both went on Cosmic Vacation shortly thereafter.
