Most people can handle carotenoids.

Baby carrots are for those who NEED retinol.

Otherwise, the carotenoids in mature carrots are fine and dandy.

The same goes for baby peas and baby bok choy.

If your iris has orange pigments, your metabolism can’t efficiently utilize and eliminate carotenoids.

If you turn yellow-orange (xanthoderma) after drinking moderate amounts of carrot juice, you can’t handle carotenoids.

Easily acquired carotenemia is associated with “diabetes mellitus, nephritic syndrome, glomerulonephritis, hypothyroidism, anorexia nervosa, and primary hepatic disease.”

Add cancer to the list.

All carotenoids are derived from — or through — lycopene.

    There’s nothing wrong with taking an iodine supplement for short periods. Probably 6 weeks at a time is OK.

    Long-term use causes serious diseases, and most people living in the First World overdose on iodine due to numerous sources, both suspected and unsuspected.

    That’s facinsting! My eyes have lot of orangeish-yellow in them, so I should stick to the preformed retinol version of vitamin A in foods like liver? (grain finished to limit lypofuscin and omega 3 of course :)

    I have never seen anyone else besides my mom with orange in the iris, I didn’t even know it was a thing! Anything else of note that an orange iris tells me about my biology (I have turquoise/ orange eyes)

      After re reading the blog, i see I can consume baby carrots for retinol! That’s sweet cause I can still make dr Ray Peats raw carrot salad lol

    Ps (I should elaborate that my eyes are BRIGHT vibrant yellow/orange, not like hazel orange.)
