The Chinese Book Of Changes
Maybe I was destined to eat and live IN TIME due to my keen interest in the I Ching: The Chinese Book of Changes.
My favorite version is the Wilhelm/Baynes translation.
My classes and workshops were generally titled — The I Ching: The Rhythm Method of Earth Control.
<>
The I Ching’s hexagrams are formed by 64 possible combinations of 8 trigrams.
Each constituent trigram is composed of 3 lines.
<>
The center line of a trigram is often the most favorable placement — it’s the position of MAN.
The top line of a trigram is the position of HEAVEN.
The bottom line is the position of EARTH.
<>
Considering one trigram on top of the other to form a hexagram (counting from the bottom line), the most favorable positions in a hexagram are the second and fifth lines.
The second line is the center of the bottom trigram, and the fifth line is the center of the upper trigram.
<>
The central position is vitally important to Chinese philosophy — it represents the point of BALANCE.
It’s the Doctrine of the Mean, the Middle Way between Extremes — the avoidance of one-sidedness.
Things shouldn’t be understood too quickly.
<>
A hexagram is a combination of 2 trinities — the first, second, and third lines, plus the fourth, fifth, and sixth lines.
The second and fifth lines are the position of MAN or consciousness — the placements for freedom and movement, where human will power is operational.
The first and fourth lines represent EARTH or the subconscious, while the third and sixth lines represent HEAVEN or the superconscious.
<>
The Doctrine of the Mean can be expressed in other trinities besides …
Heaven—MAN—Earth
&
superconscious—CONSCIOUS—subconscious
<>
Ponder also …
thesis—SYNTHESIS—antithesis
soul—MIND—body
father—SON—mother
white—GRAY—black
future—PRESENT—past
content—SUBJECT—form
will—MIND—passion
production—DISTRIBUTION—consumption
individual—CREATIVE—collective
space—LIGHT—time
tendency—HARMONIZING MEDIUM—inertia
<>
Further examples of such trinities include …
Ancient Egypt’s Osiris—HORUS—Isis
Hinduism’s Brahma—VISHNU—Shiva
Vedanta’s rajas—SATTVA—tamas
Christianity’s Father—Son—Holy Ghost
Hermetic Qabalah’s neschamah—RUACH—nephesch
Gurdjieff’s affirming—NEUTRALIZING—denying
I Ching’s sages—RULING CLASS—masses
<>
The opposites — Yin and Yang — always interact with one another forming a third or new thing.
What is created is always the conscious or NOW event.
<>
The Doctrine of the Mean is why Hexagram 32, Duration, is given prominence in the I Ching.
It’s the midpoint in the sequential order of the 64 hexagrams.
Hexagram 32 represents an enduring marriage – the UNION of the opposites.

Selenium supplementation is even more hazardous than iodine supplementation.
Even in foods, selenium is a crap-shoot. Most plants don’t need selenium, so plants can have zero selenium to many times the RDA.
Three or four Brazil nuts a day is enough to lead to selenosis (selenium poisoning).
And selenium supplements are notorious for not having what’s on the label — way below or way above.
<>
The safest way to supplement selenium is with sea vegetables, a more constant source than land vegetables.
<>
Plants containing cyanide gobble up selenium. That’s why cyanide is an antidote for selenium poisoning, and selenium is an antidote for cyanide poisoning.
<>
Regarding supplementation, taking 200 micrograms of selenium a day for a month or two shouldn’t cause any long-term health effects.
Most people have a qualitative selenium issue, not a quantitative one.

Philip Cohen (“Stem cells generate hair and hope for the bald,” New Scientist, Mar. 20, 2004) wrote …
“Normal balding is not caused by the loss of hair follicles — bald men have just as many as their more hirsute counterparts. The problem is that the follicles switch to producing colourless, almost invisible hairs.”

June 26, 2017 @ 11:43 am Atom
Lung Time (3:00-5:00 a.m.) is ideal.
Other good times …
Spleen-Pancreas Time (9:00-11:00 a.m.)
Urinary Bladder Time (3:00-5:00 p.m.)
Triple Heater Time (9:00-11:00 p.m.)
Gall Bladder Time (11:00 p.m.-1:00 a.m.)

Hi Atom, so would you say no more than 2 brazil nuts a day ?
Is it better to remove the skin from tomatoes ?
June 22, 2017 @ 1:59 pm Atom
We eat one Brazil nut a day (like Bernard Jensen advised for a different reason).
Unfortunately, we’re down to ZERO a day because the Brazil nuts reaching California are moldy.
Both the tomato’s skin and seeds should be removed.
However, I only remove the skins.
The sprouts are not just toxic — they’re toxic and aphrodisiac! Yippie Ki Yay! :)
