Cortisol builds lung surfactant out of lecithinto strengthen the lung at Lung Time (3:00-5:00 am).
Lung surfactant keeps the airways DRY — exactly 12 hours away from our WET Lung Time (3:00-5:00 pm), otherwise known as Urinary Bladder Time.
Without cortisol or lung surfactant, the lungs can’t inflate or deflate (unless you’re a Yogi andrecruit your diaphragm).
Cortisol peaks at Large Intestine Time (5:00-7:00 am), and the liver routes it and its byproducts to the colon for its proper elimination (and the elimination of the previous day’s lunch if peristalsis is “on time”).
Cortisol is also used at Large Intestine Time to prevent bowel inflammation.
Cortisol accelerates the breakdown of protein into amino acids at Stomach Time (7:00-9:00 am), specifically designed to provide amino acidsand minerals for the brain — almonds for the 12 Basic Minerals, filberts for zinc, walnuts for manganese, Brazil nuts for selenium, pine nuts for fat-soluble vitamin A, etc.
Almond protein is probably the most potent protein on the planet.
Cortisol utilized properly at Stomach Time (by “breaking the fast”) is a remedy for SHYNESS.
Cortisol is on vacation at Urinary Bladder Time (3:00-5:00 am), an optimum time to kick back and “court Sol” by sunbathing.

Dear Atom,
Cool name by the way. I’m just getting into this whole concept of time and its correlation to the body. Could you maybe write a blog post about the periods of the day, what happens at those times and how it effects the body?
Thanks,
Michael

I’ll be covering that over a period of time, Michael. :)
Meanwhile, if you choose to have more details, order our book Yes No Maybe: Chronobiotic Nutrition from my co-author Marcella Vonn Harting’s Website. :)

I myself have found it helpful, necessary, and pleasant to listen to Atom’s podcasts here on oneradionetwork over and over again. Put ‘m on an ipod or something and listen while driving or working, i’d say. I bought an ipod especially for this and it was one of the best investments i ever made.
