Re: What did Adano mean when he said, “Don’t fall asleep on the job?”

Adano Ley’s comment relates to the words “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.”

To accomplish it requires 24 hours a day. It’s not a part-time job.

At the Garden of Gethsemane, Christtold his disciples, “Remain here and keep watch with me.”

Returning after prayer, he found them asleep on the job, and asked Peter, “So, couldyou men not keep watch with me for an hour?”

Adano was holding Satsang in Flagstaff, Arizona, in the 1980s.

I had gone without sleep for almost 24 hours, and was sitting in a rear side seat in the dining room outside the living room where Adano was sitting. The house was packed with people.

“Just how does Adano manage to stay awake all the time?” I silently brooded, fighting fatigue and sleepiness. “I’ve GOT to learn out to do it!”

A wave of anger surged through me, dissipating my drowsiness. It made me think, “Maybe it has something to do with adrenaline?”

Adano turned to face me as if his thoughts had been interrupted by mine.

“Ahh, my brother back there is trying to figure out how I stay awake all the time. Don’t worry … you’ll figure it out.”

Today in 2011, I’m still not staying awake all the time, but I do know my insight was correct — it has much to do with ADRENALINE.

Adrenaline, noradrenaline, dopamine, phenylalanine, tyrosine, cholesterol, hemoglobin, and the conversion of ultraviolet radiation (via infrared radiation and red light)areintimately involved with”staying awake all the time.”
