Scientists have discovered that women
consuming at least a third of an ounce of fresh mushrooms every day
were 64 percent less likely to develop breast cancer. Dried mushrooms
had a slightly less protective effect, reducing the risk by around half.
regular consumption of green tea saw an even greater benefit. The risk
among women in that group was reduced by almost 90 percent.
Laboratory tests on animals have shown that mushrooms have
anti-tumor properties, and can stimulate the immune systems defenses.
Some evidence suggests mushrooms act by blocking production of the
hormone estrogen, which can encourage the development of cancer.
