Re: I currently work night shift from 6:45p.m.-7:15a.m. What kind of approach would you recommend for our type of work shift since our nights and days are upside down?
If someone is healthy and loves their job, a night shift is OK.
That’s not true of a rotating shift, which scrambles the body’s circadian rhythms.
If I had a job like yours, this is what I’d do …
Eat a Growth Zone 3 (evening root/sea foods) as close to 6:00 p.m. as possible.
Eat a Growth Zone 1 (morning tree/treelike shrub foods) snack at mid-shift (e.g., a semi-sweet piece of fruit that wouldn’t jack with my blood sugar).
An apricot or a handful of cherries is a good choice.
A piece of chocolate or an occasional cup of Cobalamin Tonic (coffee, cocoa, and 100% Grade B maple syrup) will clean excess carbon out of the liver.
Eat a Growth Zone 1 (morning foods) breakfast as soon as I arrive home from work.
Cobalamin Tonic is optional. (Choosing a homeopathic amount can actually facilitate sleep in most people.)
Go to bed from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Eat a Growth Zone 2 (midday bush/plant/vine foods) lunch at 1:30 p.m.
Go back to bed for a light nap for an hour or two (more if needed).
Note 1: Sleeping in a totally darkened room is your highest choice.
Note 2: Lunch should be lighter for a night shift worker than for a day shift worker.
Note 3: Keep to a similar schedule (as much as possible) during off days, otherwise, a night shift worker is a de facto rotating shift worker.
Note 4: The following cannot be stressed enough: Anyone working a night shift MUST LOVE their job !!!!!

i’ll be trying the micro-cobalamin for sleep tonight. coffee usually riles me up though so i might put this one on you! what did adano say about silk? i notice having a silk scarf or the like over my eyes sleeping improves the peaceful quality of it somehow.

Careful with that mini-Cobalamin! ;)
I never asked Swami Nitty-Gritty about silk.
Master Chen said, “Tai Ji is like drawing silk off clothes, always very steady, not stiff like a dead tree branch.”

Thank you Mr. Bergstrom for the quick response. I love your information and currently am spreading more about it to my co-workers at the Hospital.
I’m currently living in Jacksonville, FL and would love to learn more from you. Do you do any sort of Atom Bergstrom Science of Chronobiotic Nutrition Certification. I was currently planning on becoming a nurse and am currently a nursing assistant. After witnessing and experiencing the revolving door of patients I would now like to take a different approach.

Certification depends on the success of our Sun Sync Nutrition website.
Next comes a geographical campus for the Santa Barbara Sun Sync Science School of Self Healing.
Then comes its cyberspace outreach.
Certification will be based on practical knowledge and its application, not on how many official hours are accrued in the gaining of it.
Our Sun Sync Nutrition website is already something of a cyberspace classroom, especially in the Blog section, which I’ve been adding to almost daily. :)
