Daniel J. DeNoon (“Coffee-Swilling Men Get Less Gout, Study Shows,” WebMD Medical News, 2007) wrote …
“The more coffee men drink, the lower their risk of gout. At least four cups a day lower gout risk by 40%, a Canada/U.S. study shows.”
The “classic” treatment for gout – based on studies done in the 1950s – involves cherries or cherry juice.
Diuretics or dehydration can trigger gout.
Excess laboratory-made vitamin C can trigger gout.
High-fructose corn syrup can trigger gout.
Eating high-fructose tree fruits in the evening can trigger gout.
(Fructose from tree fruits eaten at Stomach Time is ideal for the care and feeding of spermatozoa nurtured for recreational purposes in the evening or reproductive purposes at Bladder Time.)
Surgery or an accident – e.g., an automobile accident, a fall on the stairs, multiple bee-stings, etc. – can trigger gout.
Psychological SHOCK or TRAUMA can trigger gout.
Free radical attack from excess minerals in the diet – iron, copper, silver, molybdenum – can raise uric acid levels as a DEFENSE AGAINST PREMATURE AGING.
(Rusting = iron + oxygen.)
Uric acid is a potent antioxidant and scavenger of singlet oxygen and free radicals.
OVER HALF THE ANTIOXIDANT POWER OF BLOOD PLASMA IS FROM URIC ACID.
Uric acid is, in fact, the human body’s most powerful defense against infection, inflammation, aging, heat disease, and cancer.
According to “Dialogue Between [Benjamin] Franklin and the Gout,” Midnight, 22 October, 1780 …
Franklin: “Eh! Oh! Eh! What have I done to merit these cruel sufferings?”
Gout: “Many things you have ate and drank too freely, and too much indulged those legs of yours in their indolence.”

Is that urinary or biliary bladder time?

Urinary Bladder Time (3:00-5:00 pm).
Spermatozoa do best in a liquid environment. ;)
Approximately 60% of U.S. residents allegedly save their sex for Biliary Bladder Time (11:00 pm-1:00 am).

Hi Atom : )
Didn’t coffee Cause dehydration?! (Of course to a different extent within every body.) Hence, it would increase and not lower one’s risk of gout..
/The cobalamin tonic, in its time, would be a ‘different story’ I guess : )

Man #1 crawls out of the desert and begs for a glass of water.
Man #2 says, “All I have is a Thermos full of coffee.”
Man #1 replies, “No, coffee is dehydrating,” and continues crawling in his search for hydration.
The above dialogue is an unlikely scenario.

Thanks for the question. :)

PS: If you’re in a scientific mood, Lawrence E. Armstrong, Ph.D. (Performing in Extreme Environments, 2000) wrote …
“… the average adult excretes approximately 1.2 L each day. If your urine volume is less than 1 L during any 24 h period, your body is conserving water via the hormone AVP [arginine vasopressin, aka ADH, or antidiuretic hormone]. […] Specific gravity refers to the density (mass per volume) of a urine sample in comparison to pure water. Any fluid that is denser than water has a specific gravity greater than 1.000, and normal urine specimens usually range from 1.013 to 1.029 in healthy adults. During dehydration or hypohydration, urine specific gravity exceeds 1.030. When excess water exists, values from 1.001 to 1.012 are typically seen. Specific gravity can be measured quickly and accurately with a handheld device known as a refractometer …”

What to do about getting sick? Any suggestions when you start to feel it coming on? Sore throat, headache, etc. Thanks Atom

Re: What to do about getting sick?
My preferred method is to keep a clove of garlic in my mouth ALL DAY between my teeth.
This will damage oral tissue if not done in moderation – easily regulated by the amount of time the garlic is held between the teeth AWAY from the tissue.
The “Aromatic Warrior” Tea Tree Oil approach is to put 4 drops of Melaleuca alternifolia essential oil in a tablespoon of honey, and take it often, also applying 4 or 5 drops to the soles of the feet, a few drops to the chest, and breathe it in all night from a diffuser (or while enclosed in an aerosol apparatus).
The whys & wherefores of the above method are explained in Natural Home Health Care Using Essential Oils, 1998, by Daniel Penoel, M.D., & Rose-Marie Penoel.
