Atom Bergstrom

Sun Sync Nutrition

atom-bergstrom-sunAtom Bergstrom, born Gosta Ingvar Bergstrom, Jr, is credited as the founder of Sun Sync and the leading expert on a Sun-Centric lifestyle.

Atom’s journey towards health, nutrition, longevity, and meditation goes back to 1955, when he first started reading books by D.C. Jarvis, J.I. Rodale, Carlton Fredericks, Adelle Davis, Aldous Huxley, Paramahansa Yogananda, Swami Prabhavananda, and numerous others. His exposure to the above mentioned authors instigated a deep desire and passion to understand and unlock the secrets to optimal human wellness and longevity.

Atom was inspired by the words of Thomas Jefferson: “School teaches all of the branches, but none of the roots.” He sought the answers to his questions, not in classrooms, but in books, relationships, and life experiences. His quest for true knowledge and wisdom began by studying in hundreds of libraries across the country and evolved by studying with teachers and masters including Swami Adano Ley, Sufi Adnan Sarhan, Rabbi Michael Shapiro, Taoist Master Yun Xiang Tseng, and Fitness Icon Gypsy Boots.

His most significant teacher was Swami Adano Ley with whom he spent 14 years. During this time, he studied a variety of sciences extensively, including the sun centric lifestyle, and ultimately graduated from Adano Ley’s Texas Institute of Reflex Sciences. The knowledge and wisdom he gained studying under a highly evolved swami combined with his emphasis on scientific research & personal experience would soon become the heartbeat of Sun Sync Nutrition.

For the past 40 years, Atom has dedicated his life to the continuous learning and teaching of Sun Sync Nutrition, Time Conscious Eating, Cosmo-Chemistry, Reflexology, Muscle Response Testing, Body Language Analysis, Iris Analysis, Lucid Dreaming, Meditation and many other sciences.

Show Highlights:

As you well know if you are a regular One Radio Network listener, we’ve had several changes in our guest schedule this week due to some issues with Patrick’s back. We almost cancelled Atom for a third time this week, but got creative with Patrick’s technical knowledge and was able to have the show with Sharon, our show’s producer, stepping in to host it. This is certainly where technology and the internet really shine with Sharon in Cincinnati, Atom in CA, and Patrick MIA, we pulled it off without a hitch and had a good time doing it. We have appreciated your understanding during this trying time, but things are starting to look up!

-Atom talks pain, yawning, and the piriformis

-We ask Atom what he thinks of the niacin protocol we’ve been talking a lot about lately

-The importance of releasing trauma and releasing anger in productive ways

-Atom gives his opinion of algae, kelp, and chia

-Exercises to overcome jaw joint clicking

-Things we can do to improve heart health

-Tackling pain frompost herpetic neuralgia—a complication of shingles

-What can be done about elevated liver enzymes and B12?

-Question from a listener: Please ask Atom for is take on Jack Kruse’s recommendations on eating a ton of seafood to get DHA to negate the effects of EMFs.Are fish sources like cod and halibuta safe bet against yellow fat? It’s my understanding that it’s the oil or the oily fish that’s problematic

-Atom gives advice on pre and post root canal removal

-What does Atom think about Eurythmy – the physical movements developed by Rudolf Steiner?

-Can physical movement of the body facilitate healing of the body or an awakening of soul?

-Does Atom think soaked chia seeds are good to eat in the morning?

-What are his thoughts on dates (the fruit)

-How can we know if our coconut oil is rancid?

-How can we be sure there are no cheap extender oils in olive oil purchases?

-Questions from a listener:1) Atom shocks when he takes the opposite view of mainstream treatments.
He’s stated a number of times about treating type 2 diabetes(metabolic issues)
WITH FRUIT?, but quickly goes off to other info and never explains HOW TO DO THIS and HOW IT WORKS–Isn’t high blood sugar raised even higher by the sugar in fiber fruits?2) Brazil nuts, cacao powder, almond, and walnutstop the scale for phytic acid. Will eating on time ameliorate themineral draining effects of these high phytic acid foodsthat we love to eat in the morning?

-Question from a listener:For about two years ago when I started cleansing under the supervision of a naturopath taking aloe ferox and other supplements like magnesium, iodine, and doing coffee enemas, I developed a lot of mucus in my sinuses and my ears will plug up consistently. I have also been very sensitive to light and have a lot of floaters when I go outside. I have a mole under my left breast which I believe is related to the liver meridian, so maybe I’m still cleaning out my liver. Any advice? I started eating on time over a week ago so I’m already on track with that :)

and so much more!

Excellent show! Bravo, Sharon! As much as I like Patrick, I would have nothing against you substituting for him once in a while!

    • April 8, 2016 @ 7:58 am One Radio

Aww….thanks Maxim! I had a lot of fun and would certainly entertain the idea of stepping in once in a while to give Patrick a break. It gave me a whole new appreciation of his job and how well he pulls everything together with the music, the commercials, the station breaks, the emails flowing in. And I didn’t have to do anything but converse with Atom and it was still challenging, but really fun. Thank you for your encouragement; I really appreciate it ;-) Cheers, Sharon

      • April 8, 2016 @ 2:20 pm Atom

You were marvelous, Sharon, especially since you were interviewing someone who was cranked up on Cobalamin Tonic. :)

“And he mounted his horse and rode off in all directions.”

Authentic Blotting Brushes are available at several websites. Here’s one of them …

Best recovery wishes to Patrick, but you did a GREAT job, Sharon!!!

  5. April 8, 2016 @ 11:52 am Really Organic

Great show! Thanks a ton. Maybe Atom isn’t aware because he gets real food from his farmers, but Spectrum is probably NOT a good oil at all. Spectrum is owned by Hain Celestial, which is one of the BIG food giants, and their major stock holders are Goldman Sachs, Bank of America and Vanguard, among others. There are MANY smaller more reputable truly organic family owned companies not owned by big ag/big corp, like Braggs, Napa Valley Naturals, etc. Here is a good article about which organic companies to AVOID because they aren’t so great: And here is another chart of who owns who in the organic food realm:

    • April 16, 2016 @ 1:40 am Atom

      Thanks for the info. :)

It’s ironic that Hain would end up owning Spectrum, because Spectrum practically destroyed Hain back in the early 1980s by outing them about their not cold-pressed “cold-pressed” oils.

Corporations, like rust, never sleep! :(

  6. April 8, 2016 @ 11:57 am Really Organic

Here’s one more on who is involved with Hain Celestial that owns Spectrum Olive Oil… not good news – this is a few years old, but shows that the big stockholders then were Exxon, Chevron, McDonalds, Coca Cola, GE, Proctor and Gamble, Walmart, Pepsi, Pfizer, JP Morgan, AT&T, etc. I specifically AVOID their products, as I doubt they have health as their main thing in mind when making food!

  7. April 9, 2016 @ 4:59 am Matt

    Sharon = awesome

  8. April 9, 2016 @ 9:38 am Kay

Good job, Sharon! That was nicely done. We love Patrick and Atom, but you were great. And I really liked the information shared. Thank you for all that you do.

  9. April 9, 2016 @ 11:55 pm Steve

Atom’s closing remarks about the fallacy of cellular sodium pumps has been echoed by Dr. Gilbert Ling for over half a century. He proposes the Association-Induction Hypothesis as the actual correct understanding of how cells work. He writes extensively about this on his site at In fact, it was his work in this area that was instrumental in the development of the MRI. Despite all the evidence, mainstream medicine still teaches the flawed concept of cellular pumps and provides research grants and awards for those that follow such nonsense. This sets back advancements in medicine tremendously. Dr. Ling is up in age but still around; it would be great if you could get him on the show!

    • April 16, 2016 @ 1:46 am Atom

Most of the pumps —sodium, calcium, and otherwise — are possibly (probably?) fiction.

The same may go for all the organelles we learned about in high school biology and beyond too.

  10. April 10, 2016 @ 9:56 am Matthew

Good show Sharon. Sometimes when you call Patrick your voice gets a bit soft but it was on the same level as Atom today and clear.

  11. April 11, 2016 @ 12:30 am Nancy

41 minutes into hour two Atom said Vibrant Gal would post a mayo recipe on web site. I cannot find it. Can someone please tell me where to find the mayo recipe?

    • April 11, 2016 @ 10:43 am Atom

From Vibrant Gal to Nancy and whoever likes mayo …

Enjoy this easy to make mayonnaise recipe.

1-1/4 cup olive oil, divided. Test your olive oil for authenticity, if it does not turn solid in the fridge, it is not real, it’s several polyunsaturated oils mixed :(
      1 egg (room temperature)
      1/2 teaspoon mustard powder (optional)
      1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
1/2 to 1 lemon, juiced (optional)

All ingredients need to be at room temperature, important for the emulsification process.

Place the egg, 1/4 cup of olive oil, (optional – mustard powder and salt) in a blender or food processor. Mix thoroughly. To quickly warm your egg, place in a cup of hot water for about three minutes
While the food processor or blender is running, slowly drizzle in the remaining cup of olive oil. The slower you pour, the thicker the mayo. The emulsion comes together best when you pour as thin a stream as possible.
After you’ve added all the oil and the mixture has emulsified, (optional – add lemon juice to taste) stirring gently with a spoon to incorporate.

      • April 14, 2016 @ 11:39 pm Lynn_M

Which time zone can this mayonnaise be eaten in? The egg is an evening food, the lemon is 9-11 am, olive oil is morning, mustard – ?. Seems like there is no good time for the blended ingredients.

        • April 17, 2016 @ 7:39 pm Vibrantgal

          [email protected]
Great question, Lynn, thanks for asking.
According to Atom, olive oil, salt and egg are time neutral, although egg is best eaten at dinner time. Mustard is mid-day, however, it is optional. There is a rule about citrus, eat them alone or leave them alone, the reason I listed it as optional. Although, according to Adano, combining olive oil with lemon renders lemon neutral.

  12. April 11, 2016 @ 11:42 am Atom

Relevant to a listener’s question, here’s some info about circadian periodization and the Olympics …

  13. April 11, 2016 @ 9:44 pm Trent

    Hi Atom ,

Your shows and info are always awesome.
Not related to the show per say, but what are your opinions about sprouts and sprouting?

    Look forward to your response.

    • April 12, 2016 @ 4:45 pm Atom

Sprouts are safest when grown at home.

Bacterial outbreaks are almost always caused by commercial sprouts — the ones you buy in a supermarket or are on your sandwich at a health food restaurant.

These outbreaks are harmless to a person with adequate gastric acid (enhanced by CO2) and a capable immune system (enhanced by sunlight, fresh air and water, physical activity, laughter, etc.).

Sprouts are time-neutral for the same reason a human baby is timed by the Stomach Clock (requiring two-hour feedings day and night) before graduating to the Circadian Clock.

Warning: Never smell sprouts! Fungus in the lungs is not a pleasant thing.

Ignore cyberspace advice like, “Smell the sprouts to be sure that they have a clean, fresh odor and do not smell.”

      • April 12, 2016 @ 11:55 pm Trent

I will be growing them at home.
Thank you for the info Atom!

        • April 13, 2016 @ 4:15 pm Atom

          • April 16, 2016 @ 6:05 pm Elliott

Atomic Ed, as I like to call him, is the best. His teacher, Adano Ley, recognized Atom’s talents, for in later years of the master’s life, Atom was allowed to teach parts of the Solar Nutrition workshops. If I had a lot of bucks, I would send him all over the world to teach sun synch nutrition, aka solar nutrition.

  14. April 17, 2016 @ 9:37 pm Atom

    Thanks, Elliott.

Elliott is a longtime friend and initiate of Swami Nitty-Gritty, and an awesome human being! :) :) :)

  15. April 20, 2016 @ 3:31 pm Jill

One of your most interesting guests!!! I may not agree with everything Atom says (I never agree 100% with anyone ha!), but he is probably the only guest I love listening to even if I don’t agree!!! He always brings something new and exciting to the table, and I love his humor and disposition. Sharon was a great host too!!
