Heavy Water For Life Extension?
Fiona Macrae (“It’s time to raise a glass (of heavy water) to a longer life,” The Daily Mail, Nov. 27, 2008) wrote …
“He [Russian biochemist Mikhail Shchepinov] found that water enriched with deuterium, which is twice as heavy as normal hydrogen, extends the lifespan of worms by 10 per cent. And fruitflies fed the ‘water of life’ lived up to 30 per cent longer.
“He now believes people could also benefit from the sweet-tasting water, or from deuterium-enriched ‘heavy foods’.”
According to the same source …
“Dr (Aubrey] de Grey, a ‘bio-gerontologist’ who leads the Methuselah Foundation, a charity which aims for ‘the defeat of age-related disease and the indefinite extension of the healthy human lifespan’, said the research was ‘extremely promising’.”
<>
The carbon-deuterium bond is 5 to 10-fold stronger than the carbon-hydrogen bond, according to Mikhail Shchepinov.
J.C. Davis disagreed, writing …
“You’ve confused bond strength with how long a bond will take to break. The actual difference in bond strengths is much less than this.”
<>
Do I advocate deuterium-enhanced water?
No.
Do I advocate deuterium-depleted water?
No.
Things shouldn’t be understood too quickly.
<>
Would I drink deuterium-enhanced water?
No.
Would I drink deuterium-depleted water?
Yes, if it came from a glacier, and it wasn’t in a store-bought container.
<>
Would I eat deuterium-depleted food?
Yes, if it came from mountain-grown non-GMO beet sugar.
<>
Would you make your own deuterium-depleted water?
No. Not enough bang for the buck.
Ordinary water contains about 150 D2O molecules per every 1,000,000 H2O molecules.
Deuterium-depleted water contains about 125 D2O molecules per every 1,000,000 H2O molecules.
Isn’t making deuterium-depleted water a bit like having 1,000,000 cockroaches in your house, and killing 25 of them, and thinking you’ve accomplished something?
<>
Mercury in the air is more of a danger than “ordinary” water, yet — again — it’s an issue of not enough bang for the buck.
So Vibrant Gal and I don’t wear N-95 Particulate Respirator Masks whenever we go outdoors.
<>
Remember the “ordinary” water in food.
Folks eating the Standard American Diet (SAD) get 25% of their water from food.
People who eat fruits and vegetables up that percentage considerably.
Cucumbers are 96% water.
Lettuce and celery are 95% water.
Mushrooms and watermelons are only 92% water.
And orange juice? It’s only 89% water.
Is all your food being watered with deuterium-depleted water?

Re: Interesting idea, but I would be surprised if it had any basis in reality. The effectiveness of fish oil has been proven to be beneficial in multiple ways.
I’ve written six books that say otherwise containing lots of data saying otherwise (for those who aren’t hypnotized by Big Pharma).
Actually, all six books are basically collections of references.
The trick is to flip the script and look under the rock by researching DHA’s unmentioned side effect — Waxy Yellow Fat Disease (chronic lipofuscinosis).
No creature on Earth is immune to it — even salmon get it except the farmed ones protected by ethoxyquin (EQ), butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA), butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), tert-butyl hydroquinone (TBHQ), and/or propyl gallate.

does not coffee promote cortisol which is biological? So would not regular coffee consumption be classed as supplementing with cortisol Although DHA is an essential fatty acid.
Indeed, coffee does jack up cortisol levels.
Add sugar (even GMO table sugar), and Bye Bye, cortisol, serotonin, and nitric oxide.
I drink my first cup of morning coffee at 1:00 a.m. just before hitting the bed, and I sleep like a log.
(Coffee is also an excellent source of magnesium and niacinamide, and, according to Johns Hopkins, its caffeine is the same anticarcinogen found in the tea plant.)
DHA is an essential fatty acid. Ask any medical doctor (or vegan).
But what almost no medical doctor know is that not even linoleic and linolenic fatty acids are essential.
The first was by George & Mildred Burr in the late 1920s despite numerous objections (including the countervailing research at Rice University), and the second was (are you ready for this?) by the World Health Organization in the mid-1990s.

Hi Atom, could you explain this a bit more please – “Add sugar (even GMO table sugar), and Bye Bye, cortisol, serotonin, and nitric oxide.”

According to Keven D. Laugero …
“Simply eating sucrose was recently discovered to restrain the stress hormone system.”
Table sugar is pure sucrose. It’s in honey and maple syrup.

I can tell you one good thing about DHA (docosahexaenoic acid).
It’s used by surgeons to depress the immunity during organ transplantations.

Ground water contains less heavy water than spring water and lake water, especially during the summer months.
Mountain water contains less heavy water than water from lower elevations.

Atom, do you think this effect might make DHA helpful for Autoimmune conditions?
March 3, 2018 @ 12:24 am Atom
Good question! I would have thought the same thing not too long ago.
There’s no such thing as an autoimmune disease.
A so-called autoimmune response is actually an abnormal immune reaction causing an intense inflammatory response.
That’s not the same thing at all.
The actual villains are not even mentioned by Corporate Medicine …
estrogen, cortisol, nitric oxide, serotonin, and omega 3 fatty acids
<>
Estrogen is a shock hormone.
How can a “female hormone” determine the male sex in the uterus?
Why does a transplant from a man to a woman have a much better chance of success than a transplant from a woman to a man?
Why are these so-called “autoimmune” diseases much more common in women than in men?
Is it really a woman’s “natural” hormones or something she’s eating?
<>
The Lactobacillus (found in yogurt and a woman’s vagina) is a cause of Lupus.
Who eats more yogurt? Men or women?
How many advertisers target men in yogurt commercials?
<>
The police always show up every time there’s a mugging, so does that mean the police caused the mugging?
In identical manner, corporate doctors misled us about cholesterol.
They got away with it for decades.
Now they’re doing the same thing with antibodies.
How many decades will they get away with it before someone sets the record straight?

awesome! looking forward to them! please, also release as much material as u see fit concerning lactobacilus acidophilus and various dis-eases and condition!
At-OM: Lactobacilus is possibly/probably the real villain of tooth decay. although Streptococcus mutans takes the rap.

Re: And yet who eats more vaginas … men or women?
I’ll ask my nearby neighbor, Michael Douglas.
Only he mistakenly blames HPV, instead of estrogen and Lactobacillus acidophilus …

Great, thanks Atom! I too will look forward to more thoughts on ‘AI’, estrogen, lacobacillus, etc :)

Lactobacillus minus lactic acid can sometimes be beneficial.
Like other bacteria, it watches out for itself.
If it suits its purpose to help us, it helps us.
If it suits its purpose to hurt us, it hurts us.
