The Little People Of Big Sur
Lashed by wind and shrouded by fog, Big Sur is a very mysterious place.
More than a few people, including Carmel poet Robinson Jeffers and John Steinbeck’s mother, have reported seeing the little three-feet-tall people who hang out in the Sur.
Mrs. Olive Hamilton Steinbeck claimed to trade with them — nuts and fruit for feathers and shells.
They’re the Dark Watchers, Big Sur’s version of Ireland’s leprechauns and Hawaii’s Menehune.
And no one has ever figured out the secret of the Indian gold, except for Old Man Clarke, born in England in 1852.
The local Indians believed that mankind was created on the white slopes of Pico Blanco (“White Peak”), the largest mass of pure limestone in all of California, located in the Little Sur
Old Man Clarke, the hermit of Little Sur, was an eccentric vegetarian who lived in the wilderness of the Sur on wild honey and a mixture of wheat and honey.
He claimed to hear symphonies in the air.
No white man except Clarke has ever known where the Indians obtained their gold.
He claimed the secret of the gold was a “spiritual” revelation, and he refused to use or spend any of it preferring to live without possessions.
After Old Man Clarke went on his Cosmic Vacation at 94 revolutions around the Sun, it was revealed that he was a Ph.D., a Harvard graduate who had attended the University of Edinburgh for his M.A. and had quit Columbia before obtaining his doctorate.
Be sure to visit Jade Cove if you visit Big Sur. You can pick up jade off the beach.
A 9,000-pound jade boulder was retrieved from the waters of this cove in 1971.
It’s recorded as the largest piece of jade ever found in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Jade is the dried semen of the Celestial Dragon, according to Chinese legend.

hey atom! i’m curious what you think about a solid gold toe ring. i have a tendency towards deep brain waves and was thinking it would help me ground deeper vibrations down to my feet and bones where they belong. i also remember reading that gold belongs above the heart when worn as jewelry. can you shed some light on this? thanks.

Swami Nitty-Gritty was adamant in his warning about not wearing gold below the level of the heart, but I haven’t been able to confirm it one way or the other.
SNG didn’t have a 100% accuracy rate regarding what he said, but his above-90%-rate makes me take his advice pretty seriously.
Brass is for grounding, and it’s about as conductive as zinc.

i’ve been wanting some nice brass jewelry for a long time now. feeling myself i guess you’re right about gold belonging above the heart. like the kind of slow vibration it carries is more suited for the brain and above stomach area. what’s puzzling to me is the fact that gold rings are carried below heart in general. then again, the typical image of a diva has her holding it on near ear level in a receptive posture. the mischievous part of me feels like carrying a toe ring either way, but the swami warning also feels like it should be heeded. thanks for the reply.

Hands are above the heart in Mathematical Man (Vitruvian Man) …

The standard Polarity Therapy Man depicts the hands as even higher.
Thumb = silver or gold ring (neutral)
Index Finger = gold (positive) (feces = gold)
Middle Finger = silver (negative) (circulatory-cardiac conductivity)
Ring Finger = gold (positive) (wedding ring)
Little Finger = silver (negative) (cardiac-circulatory conductivity)

If I wanted to do a pranayama of extended exhale, to decrease CO2 in the body, then morning would be best because at night I want to increase CO2 (eg paper bag method) for sleep?!

Paper bag breathing preps us for staying awake at night.
Swami Nitty-Gritty explained that staying awake all night was possible by regulating the nitrogen and carbon dioxide in the air (using the nose as a catalytic converter while doing rhythmic wavelike movements).
He claimed hydrogen and oxygen were unavailable after sunset but nitrogen and carbon dioxide were readily abundant.
It took almost two decades to validate his claim — which, at the time, I thought was merely a pun on “night-rogen”
Atmospheric nitrogen peroxide and nitric anhydride are created after the Sun sets, and both of these nitrogen radicals are utterly destroyed (photolyzed) by the RED spectrum of light at the very crack of dawn.
Nitrogen peroxide and nitric anhydride then transform into atmospheric nitric oxide and nitrous oxide, sources of extra oxygen, ozone, and hydroxyl radicals for us to breathe throughout the day.
Will Power is supplied by nitrogen and carbon dioxide at night, and Solar Power powers us during the day.
If you use orange essential oil (rich in d-limonene) during the day, it takes 12 to 48 minutes for it to be oxidized into limonene breakdown products (e.g. limonene hydroperoxides).
In the evening d-limonene takes a mere 54 seconds to 9 minutes to be oxidized (and into different breakdown products than those produced during the daytime!).
Limonene and its limonoids and glycosides are designed to assist with morning acidity or evening alkalinity depending on the TIME of day.

How are the Buddhist a saying there’s no soul, yet they beleive in reincarnation? Aren’t the two basically synonyms?!
May 20, 2016 @ 3:16 pm Atom
There are five major sects and too many subdivisions of Buddhism.
Swami Nitty-Gritty contention that “soil” is mistranslated as “soul” reframes the question.
