I’d consider becoming a Libertarian except that they all wear neckties except for the brothel-owner Libertarians of Nevada.
Neckties are only-too-obvious phallic symbols, but do they represent domesticated phallic symbols or feral ones?
Jodi Balkan (“Tie Me Up. Tie Me Down,” Psychology Today, Feb. 1, 1997) wrote …
“With 60 percent of ties being purchased by women, many men are the Charley McCarthys of the fit-to-be-tied fashion statement.
“Of course, there are those who will swear that a long, wide tie with silk that feels like ‘living skin’ is really just representative of the male genitalia. ‘The tie is the most obvious kind of a phallic symbol,’ says George D. Goldman, Ph.D., a psychologist and psychoanalyst who practices in New York City. ‘It hangs down in front of a man like a phallic symbol — but that’s just a cliché.
“‘Like Sigmund Freud once said, “Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.” And some ties are just ties.’ But just in case, women are glad that those lanky, skinny ties are out of style.”
For those of you who doubt that a necktie really is a phallic symbol, starch yours so it stands up tall and feral and wear it to work.
Moral of this story (whether you’re a Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, or a non-voter like me) …
Set your necktie free. If for no other reason than to jack with Doug & Mel.
Burn your phallic necktie before it hangs you!

Good one Atom. Absent ties, might the ladies would prefer a house plant in the family araceae, like philodendron martianum
Or even amorphophallus titanum.
