Most of me is not in my brain, and most of you is not your brain.
“The gut has a mind of its own,” as Michael D. Gershon, M.D., put it, in his 1998 book, The Second Brain, about the enteric nervous system.
Another name for the enteric nervous system is “The Brain In Your Gut.â€
95 percent of the “brain” neurotransmitter serotonin is in the bowel.
As Dr. Gershon pointed out, the gut is reptilian, not mammalian.
Dr. Gershon (The Second Brain: A Groundbreaking New Understanding of Nervous Disorders of the Stomach and Intestine, 1998) wrote …
“Although the gut may be reptilian, people are fascinated by reptiles. The lines at the reptile house at the zoo are long, and no museum ever went broke pushing the dinosaur exhibit.â€
Dr. Gershon (same source as above) wrote …
“We now know that there is a brain in the bowel, however inappropriate that concept might seem to be. The ugly gut is more intellectual than the heart and may have a greater capacity for ‘feeling.’ It is the only organ that contains an intrinsic nervous system that is able to mediate reflexes in the complete absence of input from the brain or spinal cord.”
How much of our “personality” is derived from our enteric nervous system?
Also, independent of our enteric nervous system, 90 percent of all the cells living IN our body are not OF our body – the MICROBIOME …
the “ecological community of commensal, symbiotic, and pathological microorganisms that physically share our body space” … and Mind Space.
Wait! There’s more! Rupert Sheldrake’s “extended mind” model exceeds the other three options …
1) brain
2) enteric nervous system
3) microbiome

Re: I have a water purifier system that takes out the chlorine and also the heavy minerals. Since the calcium is gone, the water is acid. The water coming out of the purifier is currently reading 6.4 – 6.5. I would like to know your thoughts.
lemon juice, vinegar = 2 pH
orange juice. grapefruit juice = 3 pH
tomato juice, acid rain = 4 pH
black coffee, normal rain = 5 pH
Both urine and saliva measure what’s leaving the body, not what’s in it.
Also, measuring the pH of liquids is like trying to measure the pH of a vegetable by the water it was cooked in.
It ignores the pH of fats and phospholipids, the true arbitrators of our systemic pH.
Paradoxically, the more water consumed (no matter what its pH), the more alkaline the body becomes.
Excess water converts uric acid into ammonia (sometimes, a good thing; sometimes, not).

Soaking almonds (six hours to three days) converts prussic acid into amygdalin, a natural form of the cancer treatment drug, laetrile.
