Servers, Satellites, Drones, & Skynet
Who’s to blame for our civilization careening out of control?
It’s the U.S. Strategic Global Digital Defense Network — SKYNET.
At least that’s what it’s called in The Terminator series of movies.
The villains who created the real-life version of SKYNET have become its victims too.
John Kenneth Galbraith (The New Industrial State, 1967) warned …
“I am led to the conclusion, which I will trust others will find persuasive, that we are becoming the servants in thought, as in action, of the machine we have created to serve us.”
SKYNET co-unfolded (not co-evolved) with the human cortex.
Maurice Nicoll (Psychological Commentaries on the Teaching of Gurdjieff and Ouspensky, 1952, 1980) wrote …
“Up to a certain point you are ready-made but beyond that point you are not ready-made. At the same time you are capable of some evolution, some development, some growth, beyond the ready-made or mechanical level. But since everything is governed by the Law of Seven or the Law of Shock you may be quite certain that any further development depends on shock — that is, you cannot develop beyond the mechanical given level without shocks. Your body is working all the time as a machine transforming physical food into higher and higher substances — substances that make it possible for you to feel, to think, and so on. And it is doing this by means of the mechanical shock of Air entering the octave of the Transformation of Food at a certain point between Mi and Fa. But the rest of you, by which I mean all that can get beyond the mechanical level, is not working. It is not working because no shock is being given in the right place and in the right way. One lives one’s life just anyhow without the slightest idea that one has to give oneself a shock, and certainly one can live one’s life in this way owing to the mechanical shock of air. But Man is created for something further. As you know, the Work teaches us that we are capable of giving ourselves two conscious shocks beyond the mechanical shock of air and that unless these shocks are given a man remains asleep and indeed begins to die psychologically.”
Most people die long before they fill their coffins.
So using SKYNET machines to vote against SKYNET dominion is like “playing the dozens with one’s uncle’s cousins.”
George Carlin said …
“Because if it’s really just the fault of these politicians, then where are all the other bright people of conscience? Where are all the bright, honest, intelligent Americans ready to step in and save the nation and lead the way? We don’t have people like that in this country. Everybody’s at the mall, scratching his ass, picking his nose, and taking his credit card out of his fanny-pack, and buying a pair of sneakers with lights in them!”
Obama, Trump, Sanders, Bush, Clinton, et al, are stuck in The Matrix just as much as you are.
They may be living in golden cages with bigger floor plans and better views, while you may be an Aluminum Grove suburbanite living in a brass cage with an overdue mortgage and a backed-up sewer system.
Post-industrial civilization is nothing more than less-than-human robots assembling more-than-machine robots for the glory of less-than-conscious witnesses.
John Taylor Gatto (The Underground History of American Education, 2006) wrote …
“Drawing an analogy between Rockefeller and the czar of Russia, [Walter] Lippman wrote that nobody believed the czar himself performed the many despotic acts he was accused of; everyone knew a bureaucracy did so in his name. But most failed to push the knowledge to its inevitable conclusion: If the czar tried to change what was customary he would be undermined by his subordinates. He had no defense against this happening because it was in the best interests of all the divisions of the bureaucracy, including the army, that it — not the czar — continue to be in charge of things. The czar was a prisoner of his own subjects.”
Do you honestly believe world events would be fundamentally different if Hitler hadn’t succeeded Hindenburg as head of state in 1934?

“Using [John] Gofman’s estimate, I think we can blame at least ten million deaths on just the medical x-rays that have been used inappropriately because of the policies of the U.S. government in the last half century. That wouldn’t include the deaths caused by radioactive fallout from bomb tests and leaks from nuclear power plants, or the vast numbers of people mentally impaired by all sorts of toxic radiation.” — Ray Peat

“Increasingly the technological enlargement of the field of perceptual control, the erasure of distance in the speed of electronic information has pushed surveillance beyond the very limits of speed toward the purest forms of anticipation.” — William Bogard

“He who is subjected to a field of visibility, and who knows it, assumes responsibility for the constraints of power; he makes them play spontaneously upon himself; he inscribes in himself the power relation in which he simultaneously plays both roles; he becomes the principle of his own subjection” — Michael Foucault
