“There’s three ways to Self-Realization.

“Number one, you can eat foods on time.

“Number two, you can travel around the world as a tourist.

“Or, number three, you can sit down and close your eyes and meditate.”

All three ways are directly or derivationally predicated on the brain’s responses to light.

The “way of eating foods on time” involves the paired VENTROMEDIAL NUCLEI of the hypothalamus, the “satiety center” of the brain located in both its hemispheres.

The ventromedial nuclei are receptive to nonphotic extravisual “food cues” associated with the liver, but can be metaprogrammed by photomimetic (light-imitating) drugs, photosensitive foods or herbs, or by a circadian eating technology such as Solar Nutrition.

Most circadian-based eating systems entrain people by feeding only.

Solar Nutrition entrains by periodic feeding of specific foods originating in one of three growth-period geometries of TREE, BUSH, or ROOT.

Solar Nutrition allows for even finer tuning – all the way down to minutes – by utilizing the “angular momentum” of acupuncture’s ancient Midnight-Noon Law and the Tides of the Blood.

There are also numerous nonphotic nutrients and chemicals capable of phase-shifting circadian rhythms, including methylcobalamin, melatonin, riboflavin (vitamin B-2), chlorophyll, creatine, lithium, ethanol, valinomycin (an antibiotic), ordinary water, heavy water (deuterium oxide), carbon dioxide (narcosis), etc.

Edwin Bunning (The Physiological Clock: Rhythms and Biological Chonometry, 1973) wrote …

“Apparently, at least most of the known circadian biochemical oscillations are not wheels of the clock, but result from still unknown oscillations. A biophysical approach may be more successful than the biochemical approach. A more detailed knowledge concerning membrane biology might be helpful. […] The effects of alcohol and D2O [heavy water] on the clock are strong arguments for assuming the involvement of membrane processes in the clock mechanism. In addition, we may mention the role of normal water. Withdrawing water can influence phase and period in a similar way an alcohol or D2O affect the clock.”

Certain nonphotic nutrients and chemicals are capable of dampening (but not stopping) the phase-shifting of circadian rhythms, including nickel chloride, the chelator EGTA (ethylene glycol tetra acetic acid), etc.

Re: self realization by traveling around the world as a tourist.

I heard Oprah say that it was not until she visited India that she saw herself in every person there.

I’ll cover the “way of the tourist” in a future blog entry. :)
